Fake tan for beginners?

PatienceIsAVirtue1 · 26/06/2018 14:01

I'm a complete fake tan beginner, but I need to use it as I have terrible tan lines. I was looking on Superdrug, saw this st tropez one, is it good? www.superdrug.com/Skin/Fake-Tan-%26-Bronzing/Self-Tanning/St-Tropez-Self-Tan-Purity-Body-Mousse-200ml/p/753787

Any other options you suggest, that are cheaper? Or do you need to buy an expensive one to get a good result?

I don't find the st tropez one that great! ive just switched to Bondi which is great! the foam is easiest to use cos you can see where its going, get a good mitt too!

Total tan noob here as well!
I’m a ginger/freckles/milk skinned type and I’ve been using Garnier Summer Body for a week and I have to say I am very impressed by it Grin

I was looking at St Tropez, despite the fact it's so expensive,, as everyone was telling me how great it was. I'll have a look for the Bondi Sands one, thanks for the recommendation...out of interest, it does leave a natural colour? I don't want to look as if I've applied fake tan iyswim 😂

Yeah it’s fantastic! I use a dark one and it just looks like I’ve got a good tan no orange bits all all! It smells amazing when it goes on but it does smell of normal fake tan after which is abit annoying!

WillowRose79 · 26/06/2018 14:36

Tbh though I would get whichever high end brand is on offer because they can be so expensive!!!

mrsb06 · 26/06/2018 14:36

Go for St Moriz. I was wary because it's so cheap compared to St Tropez, Fake Bake etc. I've genuinely found it to be as good if not better, though. Would never go back to expensive brands.

Sorry, one last question, does the bondi sands mark bedsheets?
I'm fair skinned, however, I tan quite well...I might try the dark first as I want to see a difference !

Bondi sands I'd really good but yes it turns your bedsheets pink.
It does wash out though.
This is bondi sands on me, I've got medium skin, blue eyes and mid brown hair.

That looks really natural, I'm definitely going to try out Bondi Sands, thanks for the recommendation !

I've used pretty much everything and it's the one that works best for me and quite a few of my friends.
It's the dark mouse and I use a mitt.

eloisesparkle · 26/06/2018 19:32

Which is better for applying fake tan - mitt or latex gloves ?

holycityzoo · 27/06/2018 17:19

Mitt definitely, but you need to wear gloves as well or it soaks through.

LuMarie · 27/06/2018 17:27

I'd recommend a spray! Keeps it away from your hands and comes out much more even with way less fuss.

I use l'Oreal, it looks really natural and lasts well.

Definitely buy a mattress protector for your bed

GGCH · 28/06/2018 02:35

You won't regret it - I used St Tropez for the longest time but switched to Bondi Sands on a recommendation and haven't looked back!

DianaT1969 · 28/06/2018 04:40

Bondi Sands is a clear winner for me too. I've used them all. I use the white bottle foam in light, as I have fair, Celtic skin. I wasn't as impressed with their daily version.
It's true that it soaks through the mitt, so you need gloves too.
Allow 5 hours before showering after 1st aplication. Don't worry that it goes on dark and streaky. That's just the guide which washes off to leave an even tan.
