Does Coast sizing come up big or small?

We’ve been invited to a couple of weddings this year, and I’ve seen s beautiful coast dress on eBay I'd love to buy. I’ve never actually owned anything by coast though and have no idea of their sizing.

I’m a size 12 in M&S and Next, (although some tops in next am a 10, as their sizing can be a bit bonkers). I’ve read that coast can be smaller than other stores though, but don’t know if that’s so. I’m fairly hour glass, with extra curves where they’re not wanted Grin thus having to buy a new dress! Just wondering if a 12 would be ok or if I’d actually need a 14. Any thoughts?

I always go a full size up in Coast

shereebobbins · 25/06/2018 20:55

I'm a 12 getting towards a 14 but I buy size 12 at Coast.

KathyBates · 25/06/2018 20:57

I find them pretty true to size x

I’m an hourglass 12 (10/12 in Next, 12 in Topshop) and need a 14 in Coast. Just doesn’t fit over hips and boobs otherwise.

dontcallmelen · 25/06/2018 22:31

I find coast a little on the small side in dresses, skirts & tops not so much.

Coffeist · 26/06/2018 10:59

M&S and Next sizing is quite big whereas I find Coast true to size - so I would go one up (14 for Coast).

Loyaultemelie · 26/06/2018 11:19

I'm a 10/12 virtually everywhere but a 14 in coast dresses

TSSDNCOP · 26/06/2018 12:37

I used to work there.

If you are Coast shaped you’re fine in your normal size: not big breasted, small waist (they refer to it in every garment description as “your narrowest part”) average hips.

If you’re big breasted you’ll start to struggle, but if you’re weight is round your waist you’ll be going up a size.

I am normally a 16 in a top but in Coast I can be an 18 same in bottom size depending on what I am looking for I am 14 in bottom so go up a full size there.I find I need to fit on everything in cost

KatharinaRosalie · 26/06/2018 14:27

I'm a Topshop 10 and could just about squeeze into a Coast size 10 bridesmaid dress - waist was fine but not much space for boobs.

SpadesOfGlory · 26/06/2018 14:30

Depends on your shape...if you have bigger boobs or hips like me you might need to size up!

EnidButton · 26/06/2018 14:40

I'm an hourglass shape, (size 10 5'6 if that helps), I found the dress I bought recently to be true to size. It was made of jersey but didn't have to stretch anywhere. Ithink it might've been made with an hourglass shape in mind. Best fitting dress I've had on a long long time actually.

It's sold out now or I'd link.

I'm size 14 in M&S and their clothes are quite roomy on me but I have to go up to a 16 with Coast. Having said that, Coast dresses are v flattering on me.

HildaZelda · 26/06/2018 15:36

I think Coast comes up a bit on the small side.

Scabetty · 26/06/2018 17:11

A little on the small size generally.

TSSDNCOP · 26/06/2018 17:22

Also because they usually have a detail waistband if there’s no room there you absolutely will not get the zip past.

daisydalrymple · 26/06/2018 18:23

Oh brilliant, thanks for all the replies! I think I’d best try the 14 then from what everyone says. Thank you.
