stylish backpack for travel

Hello! I am going away for 4 days with two children in the summer. We are traveling by train to the coast having a short break (hotel). We then return home via London, spending one night going to museums, then travelling by train home. This will involve getting on and off trains and traveling on the underground, so I need both hands free and will be using escalators. Thus meaning my usual wheely suitcase is not practical. .
I would like to buy a nice rucksack big enough for a few days clothes but not an ugly backpacker style bag. Does anyone have any suggestions please? Not much of an idea of budget, but cheaper is better!

a ruck sack is a rucksack. you can buy the dickish fashion jobs, with extra weight in silly metal trimmings, little internal space,, no hip belt and no zips.

or you can buy something fit for purpose from an outdoor store. make sure it isnt designed for women.

A Kipling bag is what you need. They are lightweight but indestructible. But most important they are like a tardis and carry more than you can imagine. Also have lots of pockets so you can get organised. Expensive but you never need to pay full price if you are happy with last seasons colours. Check out T K Maxx, posh bags of Kiplings sale section online. I never travel without mine. Have a great trip.

The ospreys one looks fab. Particularly with the zip of day pack.

Thank you. I am going to look for the osprey in store.
Why should I avoid one designed for women specialsubject? Are they not as good?
