Did Meghan play it too safe at Royal Ascot on Tuesday?

We had a really good view of her. We thought her hat was white and her dress was cream. It was very safe but, had she chosen a better hat, it could have been great. Not sure who is advising her, but she’s yet to hit her stride. The crowd were excited to see her though.

Please post a pic of yourself at Ascot so we can all pick apart your appearance.

^^ this.

Oh Christ, there always one 🙄

Beating in mind this is the Style and Beauty section and the OP is merely wishing to discuss the, ahem, style of someone in the public eye, I'd say it's a fairly reasonable thread subject...

bubbles at the engagement etc I really liked her style, but as time has gone on I've been less taken with it... she often wears things that appear too big for her from the wedding dress to this.. I think she's missed the mark a few times and maybe because she's dressing how she thinks she ought to rather than wearing what she really likes.. her style at entertainment events before she met Harry was fantastic.

Or two....

Fresta · 21/06/2018 17:27

I thought she looked lovely. She does seem to purposefully dress in a more demure way now though, which is understandable. I loved her pre-royal style though and hopefully as she settles in she'll have the confidence to just be herself.

Fresta · 21/06/2018 17:28

lemons what? This is style and beauty you know!

lemonsandlimes123 · 21/06/2018 17:32

Well quite, The OP obviously went to Ascot and I am assuming was all dressed up. Would be great to review her outfit don't you think? after all this is S&B.

neveradullmoment99 · 21/06/2018 17:37

Yawn
Who cares?

Fresta · 21/06/2018 17:58

If the OP chose a career in the public eye like Meghan then we could review her outfit too. I'm assuming she isn't though. In my view, if you put yourself out there then you should expect people to discuss your choices.

I had not realised anyone would think it was wrong to discuss fashion at Royal Ascot. For many it’s what the event is about and there are pictures everywhere of lots of well known people. Of course there will be opinions on her style and I would have loved her to have a bit more confidence and not copy the Kate off white of last year. Everyone cheered when they found out she was in a carriage. I’m afraid if you accept the gig and the money, and the advice, it’s not unreasonable for a bit of harmless discussion about your outfit! Or is the Royal Family a no go area because they are superior beings?

The Evening Standard said the Princess Royal was wearing tortoise today. Should have been turquoise.

Agree with @lemonsandlimes123
Meghan is still a bride finding her feet. Let it alone.

Did you go to Ascot @BubblesBuddy ? It looks like hard work with little reward.

I actually liked what she wore!! I particularly loved the hat, very My Fair Lady, I thought it was stunning and worked beautifully with her hair.

She seems to like oversized things (which I do too, even though I don't have her figure or face, sadly!!) which I do think probably look better in real lfe, as it were, rather than on a photograph. I liked her dress, yes I do think she's perhaps trying out a new 'demure' style but she'll land in the right place for her, I'm sure.

I did think she looked nervous and not that relaxed, for which I don't blame her one bit but I really hope she's not finding it all very different (in a bad way) than what she was expecting... must be totally bewildering, all this British society stuff, to a Californian actress, and I can see that she wants to look as if she's totally au fait with it.

But basically, I loved loved loved the hat, liked the dress, wouldn't be her for all the tea in China!

Still in raptures over her wedding dress, tbh, which I loved more than any other wedding dress I've seen, including my own, so as far as I'm concerned she can Do No Wrong in the style stakes!
