Talk me through getting a bikini wax.....

Never had one despite being late 40s but I feel it’s time to bite the bullet

Thing is I’m clueless and anxious of making a massive faux pas

So what do I ask for? I want a strip left not a full nude.

Do I need to have let it ‘grow out’ beforehand? This horrifies me. My pubes are out of control if I don’t tame them- the therapist may recoil in horror when he sees they join my thighs.

What about my ahem bum hole? The hair reaches there. Don’t need it stripped clean but enough not to show in a small bikini

Oh gawd even typing this I’m sweating so might revert back to the immac!

Lol. It will be fine. The therapist has seen a million (give or take) vulvas before and will not be phased by yours.

You don’t have to let it go feral before waxing but you will need some growth so that the wax has something to adhere to. Just tell your practitioner how much hair you want removed. Mine charges more for completely bald (a Hollywood I think) than for a basic bikini line wax. I normally bring my smallest bikini bottom to the appointment so she can see what I need removing - and that includes going all the way back.

I hate it, but I do feel better on the beach knowing it’s all smooth and fresh looking so it’s a once or twice a year torment. My adult DDs maintain it year round which seems mad to me, but I think it’s a generational thing.

Take your bikini with you so she knows what need to be done.

Maybe trim any long hairs so it it less painful.

Book it for after periods when it is less painful Wink

You won’t make any faux pas.
Just tell them it’s your first time and the therapist will talk you through it.
I find any nerves are dispelled by the amazing matter of factness of the therapists , who have seen a thousand foofs before.

I have mine done every 6 weeks (and I have very fine hair, so don't worry, you don't need a lot of growth for maintenance). I get a high bikini, which allows me to wear my own knickers and the therapist pulls back the sides and top to maintain a tidy line. If you want a smaller strip you will probably need to ask for a Brazilian (I used to have this) & would recommend you go with hot wax (as it's kinder to the skin). Don't worry though, therapists are usually brilliant and it's all over and done with in a matter of minutes (I'm generally in and out in 10 mins).
