Benefit - they're real mascara

Anyone use it? If so is it any good? My lashes are short, stumpy. I'm struggling to find a mascara i like, this one has been recommended to me. I want something for lengthening & volume.

I don't rate it. I'd rather use Bourjois Volume Reveal Waterproof. Gives lots of volume and separates and lifts. (And I'm not paid to say it!!!!)

it's a free gift in one of the magazines (Elle) this month so there's a cheap way to try it

I prefer Benefit Bad Gal Lash or Rollerlash, I have ingrowing eyelashes and the Rollerlash helps to point them the right way. I found They're Real irritated my eyes.

Didn't rate it at all. Was a very thin consistency and made my lashes look sparse and feel spiky.

Rollerlash is good but you can get better mascaras for much less in Superdrug imo.

Roller lash is amazing

I have short stumpy lashes and I don't like it. I like a big fluffy brush. Maybelline great lash Big is my all time favourite, having tried loads.

Another vote for roller lash. Best mascara ever. Far better IMO.

I didn’t like it. Clumpy and flakey and difficult to remove to boot.

Chantecaille Faux Cils is great. Bit dearer.

roller lash is also one of the free gifts. They have 3 different benefit mascaras to choose from.

I found "theyre real" gave me panda eyes, as so many do, but i havent tried the others.

I can't stand benefit mascara, I find my lashes are clumped and hard. Try the YSL false lash effect, lengths fantastically but lashes are soft and much more natural

Another vote for rollerlash! I've had people ask me if I've had lash extensions when I'm wearing it, and I don't have particularly long lashes! I think it's more natural looking as well

I've been using it for a couple of years now. It's the only mascara I've tried which doesn't give me panda eyes after a couple of hours and it pretty much lasts all day. I don't find it at all clumpy either.

Maybelline total temptation is fab! Just as good as YSL. I didn't find benefit mascaras made much difference

I found that the brush is too big for the lash lengthening effect, my eyelashes end up clumpy, and after a few hours it is all smudged.

I really really like Eyeko's Lash Alert mascara as it has caffeine in it and has made my lashes really long and plentiful. I found there Benefit mascara very clumpy.

I really like it. Although after reading these I'm paranoid it looks awful excuse weird close up photo!

What about trying eyelash extensions Tinks. Then you don't need to worry about mascara.

Your lashes look great wreck wish mine would go like that.

Yes I did consider last extensions at one point but then I don't want the hassle of the up keep & they arent the cheapest. For special occasions I think they are ok.

I've discovered Eyeko Black Magic mascara, really black and lengthens lashes fantastically

I really rate They're Real. Bought it for £12 on an EasyJet flight. I have a travel size of Bad Gal Bang but don't like it as much. It builds volume and length but also tends to flake.

Benefit were doing a mascara trade-in a couple weeks ago where you could swap an old one of yours for a travel-sized tube of one of theirs. Not sure if they're still doing it but worth checking.

@wrecktangled yours look great. It's when they are clumpy and spidery that they look awful!!

Another vote for Maybelline Total Temptation. It’s brilliant for the price and I agree it’s a great dupe for YSL. I buy the waterproof one for when I’m swimming/exercising. I do actually like They’re Real as well though.

I'm a massive fan of eyeko mascara too. Lasts all day and doesn't smudge.

I use Benefit Roller Lash and it's my favourite mascara I've tried yet.
