Hair does not take dye.

I've dyed my hair since I was about 15 so nearly 17 years Shock Shock

For those 17 years I have been dying it mainly blue/black. That colour takes to my hair absolutely fine. No issues there.

In those 17 years I have stripped the black out, and it's come out with red undertones which is absolutely fine.

Now, over the past week I have stripped my hair using the hair stripper twice, it came out nearly my natural colour, with a bit of red.

I then used platinum blonde, again it left a few red tones, fine no issue.

I then dyed my hair bright red, as the colour was developing it looked red, I then washed it out and I now have bright orange hair, I mean bright, bright highlighter pen orange hair Shock Grin

I followed all the directions, I left the red on a little longer, but it just hasn't taken to my hair.

Is there a semi permanent dye I can use to get the bright red (with blue undertones) colour I want?

After being dark for so long it is a shock to me.Grin

Any suggestions? Anyone? I have Gin Cake Wine Grin

Might be time to see a professional hair dresser?! With the repeated stripping/colouring you’re very unlikely to get predictable results from another drug store box dye so personally I’d be too scared to try again. In the meantime own the orange or invest in a stylish hat Grin

Style it out and yy to getting it coloured in future in a salon.

Be aware your hair might break/snap soon - how d'you feel about a crop?

I've got extremely thick, curly hair. So I'm wearing my orange curls with pride, especially in the interview I had today Shock

I'm not going to do anything extreme, I think there's a Sally's in my town so I'll go in there.

I cut my hair very short a couple of years ago, from having hair down to my arse.

But yeah I think it's time for a hairdresser.

I do the curly girl method, no shampoo only conditioner. And I've conditioned the shit out if it since then.

I do lose hair, and always have done, I asked a hairdresser about it, and she said with my hair type it will fall out more, I don't know if that's bollocks or not.

I just don't know why my hair doesn't take colour. It's so frustrating. It'll take the blue/black but not red Angry
