Argh....wedding outfit help

mrsreynolds · 17/06/2018 17:20

I have a wedding to attend in September....

I already have a black bag and shoes (kitten heel slingbacks are the only heels I can wear...)

I have a £100 voucher for hpuse of Fraser that's been in a drawer for a while so ideally I need to use that.
I'm a busty hourglass size 14/16 but only 5'4"

I suit dark/jewel colours (I'm a dark winter for those that means anything to!)

I'm thinking a navy wrap dress?

Too boring?

Wouldn't be comfy in a body con type dress I don't think...

Maybe a navy/black hat?

Argh.

Help!!

Not navy, but I think this would suit you www.houseoffraser.co.uk/women/phase-eight-sabby-lace-dress/d890668.pd#280857196

It's lovely! but not sure I can pull off a strapless bra...:(

You could probably get away with nude bra straps.

Op, I'm a similar size and height to you and tried on that Phase Eight dress for a wedding. It looked fab. Was a close second choice. It's more pink in real life.

mrsreynolds · 17/06/2018 19:02

Ooooh pink is a def no no
Sorry I should have mentioned ed that!

This would look lovely with black kitten heels.

EdWinchester · 17/06/2018 19:45

Those Ted Baker dresses only look nice on the very slim, imo.

Bombardier25966 · 17/06/2018 19:51

The problem with all the dresses listed is that they'll look frumpy because they're designed for a taller lady. I know because I'm the same height and got the same problem!

Would you go for a jumpsuit instead OP? They seem more adaptable in being able to get them taken up without losing the shape.

mrsreynolds · 17/06/2018 20:04

Oh I was looking at that issa one!
Jumpsuit!!? God no....😁

What length do you prefer? Mini, midi or maxi?

Do you know what kind of sleeve you want? Or neckline?

Are you open to patterns/embellishments or do you prefer something simple and more plain?

mrsreynolds · 17/06/2018 20:10

Neckline: v neck or scoop
I like a line skirts and wrap dresses
Nothing above the knee
Must have sleeves even if they are just cap sleeves
No pastels
Jewel colours
No scarves
No velvet
No cold shoulder tops
No per una type embellishments

See?

I'm a nightmare!

The Issa dress is available in a 16 in an darker emerald green if you suit dark winter colours. Would look beautiful on an hourglass figure.

Agree with no to a jumpsuit. They definitely only suit the taller lady. I'm 5ft3 and always look like a toddler in an all-in-one!

mrsreynolds · 17/06/2018 20:15

I might order that one and try it on!
(I live in the area end of nowhere)

mrsreynolds · 17/06/2018 20:16

Toddler! Yes that's just what I'd look like.
They really.only suit thin ladies over 5' 9"

I really like the green!
