Re- finding my style. Help!

Hello everyone

I appreciate this is probably too vague but thought I’d try!

I’m at a bit of a cross road so in my life and need to re find my style and gradually get some new clothes! I’m early 40s two young kids (6 and 3) and recently separated. For the last 6 years I haven’t really ever gone out and my day wardrobe ( apart from work where I’m sorted) has become ‘clothes that are practical with kids’.

I always used to love clothes though and now I have some child free time I’ve realised I need some day and evening clothes that are - well without kids clothes! But I’ve no idea where to look or even what I’m looking for. I guess to start some tops to go with jeans for casual evenings - or maybe something different? At work I always wear dresses.

I’m 5’3, blonde bob and one positive side of separation is I’m pretty light atm ( so prob 10 at most). Hourglass figure ( 32E bust, always my issue - 26 waist). Love colour.

Does anyone have any suggestions of even where to start to look? I’d like to feel not just like a Mum if that makes sense! Sorry I realise this is probably way too vague but I post in hope!

Do you have time to go shopping or are you looking for online options? I like to look at blogs and Instagram for style ideas, I know some aren’t huge fans of that approach.

I’m a similar age and whilst I’m no trend setter I do like to dress reasonably on trend and like styles from shops like Cos, Other Stories, mixed with some basics from Uniqlo, some of the John Lewis own brands and some bits from M&S.
I like plainish clothes with a twist, hence the like for Cos, but with some not too boring shoes or trainers - I do have ubiquitous Stan Smiths and some chunkier Nike’s and flatforms sandals for summer.
There are some lovely maxi and midi dresses for summer around and the sales have started so you could order some bits to try. H&M have some nice bits that aren’t to expensive.

Thanks fiorentina mainly I like but I do now occasionally have time to look. Actually the one thing i have kept up is different shoes!

I think I probably also would be looking for plainish with a twist ( although is that just the practical kids meGrin). I do like Cos but as I’m curvy they don’t seem to fit unfortunately.

Hasn’t thought to look for inspiration on instagram - will definitely take a look!

As an aside , At 5'3 with a 26 inch waist you're unlikely to measure at a 32E bra size .
Have you checked bar intervention ?

Pinterest is good for style inspiration too. I get ideas from there and then shop online for similar pieces. I'm a similar age to you and tend to shop in H&M, Gap, ASOS.
