Carpenter/boyfriend jeans

I need a pair of very soft, slightly wide legged jeans that turn up at the bottom and are made of that slightly softer, drapey denim (tencel I think) for summer. Sometimes called carpenter jeans - somewhere between a trouser and a pair of jeans but not boyfriend jeans per se. Has anyone come across any anywhere?

I haven't, but placemarking because they sound wonderful

Joinourclub · 16/06/2018 16:59

Oo yes, I think I need a pair too.

ChishandFips33 · 16/06/2018 20:43

Ditto!
I thought I'd found a great pair but the elasticated waist was completely unflattering

Diamonddealeroncemore · 16/06/2018 20:50

They have some Tencel drapey trousers at Wrap. Sorry I can’t link as I’m on my phone.

bonzo77 · 16/06/2018 20:53

What size are you? I have a pair that say size 26. I’d say they’re a 10, they’d be fine on me if I didn’t have such huuuuuge thighs. Lovely lovely super soft denim. No stretch. Need to sell them on.

MsJinglyJones · 16/06/2018 20:59

Are you tall and slim?
these maybe?

FishFingerInjury · 16/06/2018 21:06

I’m not quite sure what you mean, are they full length? Or kind of wide leg and cropped. Sounds like something you’d find in cos, Toast or even Arket?

ottolinemorel · 16/06/2018 21:15

@bonzo77 I’m 5’6 size 10 so I could be your buyer... pm me a pic?

@fishfingerinjury in my head they are ankle length with a wide turn up, slightly wide legged but not culottes - just a straight leg. Soft, drapey rather than stiff denim or stretch.

They used to exist in the mid 2000s I think. I had a pair that were bleached out from oasis and were flattering on the hips and easy to wear. Never seen any like them again Sad

Toast used to do them – I bought something very similar about 10 years ago, they were lovely in themselves, but didn't suit me as I also have the big thighs! It would be worth a look for Toast jeans on ebay.

NorfolkNellie · 16/06/2018 21:31

I had 2 pairs from Gap in the late 90's. Loved them and haven't been able to find any since. They were a really soft denim.

FishFingerInjury · 16/06/2018 22:45

Like these but Shock at the price.

acatcalledjohn · 16/06/2018 23:21

These ones at GAP?

ottolinemorel · 17/06/2018 07:17

@acatcalledjohn I do like those a lot - they’re just a touch on the wide side and I’m not blessed with long enough legs to carry them off without a wedge heel.

I found these at Wrap London which look almost ideal except they have the dreaded, back of the Sunday telegraph magazine elasticated waist (and the bleach has sold out). May order anyway...

Carharrt have jeans that sound like the style you describe. Just not sure how soft the denim would be.

acatcalledjohn · 17/06/2018 17:20

Those ones by Wrap look fab!
