Summer Party

I'm going to a summer party in a month, it's being advertised as a ball but it's not going to be black tie. Work are putting it on for us so I feel obliged to go despite how stressed I feel about it.

I've asked around and other women have said they're wearing "summer dresses"

I've decided I want to wear a maxi type dress due to the fact I cannot wear high heels anymore, since I had my son's I cannot walk in them! Confused
Also since their birth I have varicose veins behind my knees (cheers boys)

I am a size 16/18 and carry most of my weight around my middle. Tummy and hips.
I have blonde hair and a warm ish skin tone. Blue/green eyes. 5'6 in height. Early thirties.

I've booked into the hairdressers and I'm having some kind of updo. Considering a subtle beehive kind of style and i have for the first time ever booked a make up artist so I can get the elusive smoky eye.

Budget wise I don't want to go too crazy as I am not a dressing up kind of girl ha.
Help me find something to wear pretty please?

Have you looked at Elsie's attic? Lots of pretty summer dresses.

I adore the red maxi.

Do you think it's possible to get away with flats paired with that dress?

Yes I'm sure you could.

or is it a bit too casual?

Could you manage a wedge, if not then go for some metallic flat sandals I think.

This website has lots of dresses to suit any budget-

Thanks everyone.

Yes I can manage a wedge. I just always feel cumbersome with more height. Even though I'm not very tall to begin with.

I love the colour block dress too

Just off to look at that website now
