Rhinoplasty

Hi,

I know threads about rhinoplasty have been done before but haven't come across any that are relatively recent.

Anyway, I am seriously considering getting a nose job- have wanted to for years and have saved up a few grand to have it done.

I've been to see an ENT consultant before for a consultation based in Manchester who does rhinoplasty at a private hospital.

I'm just wondering if anyone has had a nose job and loved / regretted the results? If so, who was it with? Is it better to go with an ENT surgeon or does this not necessarily matter? I've so many questions and would appreciate any information from anyone who has had the surgery before or knows anything about what to consider, recommended surgeons, prices etc. I'm based in the North West so will be looking for surgeons this way on.

TIA.

I had one in 2012, just busy getting DS sorted but will be able to answer some questions soon!

MerryDeath · 14/07/2018 12:55

i had one ~10 years ago. you know i'm not sure if i regret it or not? i was supposed to have a slight revision as surgeon wasn't totally happy with results, but never went through with it. idk, i care less now. had i not had the money would i have learnt to accept it as it was? hmmm maybe, but it would have been a lot of years of obsessing and letting it bring me down. i still don't like my nose though. what's the problem with your nose because there are some things it's difficult to fix with surgery.

MerryDeath · 14/07/2018 12:56

i had a very good (and upsettingly expensive) surgeon which may or may not have contributed to minimal pain and down time. very very little external damage.

legolimb · 14/07/2018 15:20

I had mine sone in Oct 2016.

The surgeon did a good job. No one noticed until I told them. Some of my closest family members still don't know Grin

Leeds area if that's any good for you.

worried1254 · 14/07/2018 17:23

I think I regret mine. I now feel a person's attractiveness is so much more than a nose. There are so many beautiful women with very strong or large noses.

PickledWilly · 14/07/2018 20:20

I had one in 2009. My nose is better than it was however I am not happy with it. I had a bump and the end was quite bulbous. The surgery itself was fine (I had it done abroad) and the look afterwards was very, very good. Weirdly my nose has gone lopsided as I have aged, and is noticeably wonky now (this was not the case in the 6 months post op). I sometimes long to have a revision surgery however I do care less the older I get.

Jayfee · 14/07/2018 20:24

Mine was done twice and still has a slight bump. I think now it is easier to get a lot of info before you go ahead. I think plastic surgeons vary a bit like hairdressers...some are more skilful than others. Mine wasn't the best.

worried1254 · 15/07/2018 12:57

@PickledWilly mine has also changed. Lovely for the first 2 years or so but has also gone lopsided as I've aged. Have thought about revision surgery but don't know if I can be bothered. Bit put off by the whole thing now.

starlight2017 · 15/07/2018 13:02

I had one 20 years ago. I was delighted at the time. Now it’s not as nice, it’s dropped, but I’d say the first ten years were great.

marypoppinsismynanny · 15/07/2018 17:11

Have you considered non-surgical rhinoplasty, OP? It can be less than a tenth of the price, and is fully reversible if you didn't like the result.

starlight2017 · 15/07/2018 17:32

You know, I might look into that. Does it last ?

marypoppinsismynanny · 15/07/2018 18:28

@starlight2017 up to 18 months depending on the type of filler used. It's becoming really popular lately - because of the price, but also the minimal risks compared to surgery.

MerryDeath · 15/07/2018 18:58

@worried1254 totally agree. in fact i think the most attractive people are those with strong/unique features inc noses. i just couldn't see it in myself.

thricethebrindledcat · 15/07/2018 18:58

Go to a surgeon who is BAAPS registered and has a long waiting list. Follow their surgery prop guidelines to the letter. Then you will get a good one. If you are smoker results and recovery time will be compromised.

If you insist on an instant appointment you will get whoever is available. Bad move IMOE.

*prep guidelines

Missbrick1 · 15/07/2018 19:27

I was going to suggest the filler type ones only because it’s not permanent & your face changes as you age (unsure of your age). A friend had one at 20, her nose was quite big but she was still very attractive. Now that she’s 30 her nose doesn’t seem to fit her face anymore if that makes sense. Im another one who thinks a strong nose can be attractive, Princess Di, Gisele, Angelica Houston, my mum etc just wouldn’t like right with button noses

MummaL24 · 24/07/2018 21:04

I'm having mine on the 6th August under two weeks now (closed rhinoplasty ) I am also traveling abroad as I saw someone said earlier, I don't so much research before finding this surgeon and picking him and I feel really confident I will get the results I'm looking for mine has bothered me for years and I've been waiting 8 months for this moment I am petrified tho I won't lie!
X

MummaL24 · 23/08/2018 21:58

Passthebubbly · 23/08/2018 22:16

I had mine done with a spire bapps registered plastic surgeon 18months ago. Absolutely no regrets. I did feel like I had been kicked in the face by a horse initially but delighted with results.

Mrstwiddle · 23/08/2018 22:55

I had 3 done and still am not happy although it is improved.

What I would say is be prepared that you might be starting down a slippery slope, particularly if you tend to focus on any negative aspects of your face.

Not trying to put you off...just try and have realistic expectations of what’s possible, rhinoplasties are difficult due to the cartilage in the nose and how it behaves.

Mrstwiddle · 23/08/2018 22:58

Oh and would highly recommend to anyone thinking of it, not to go abroad for it...it’s worth paying more the first time and getting it right with a UK ENT specialist

MummaL24 · 24/08/2018 08:45

Sorry Mrstwiddle but your wrong there have an option on going abroad yes but going abroad does not mean you will end up with botched surgery I went abroad to have mine done for the simple reason of that is where the surgeon I wanted was. My surgeon who I would highly recommend to anyone has worked all over the world America Toronto South Africa the uk and now works in Prague is head of clinic and works there with his wife he is a face specialist and I can tell you know not one bad result or review on this surgeon
Having plastic surgery on your face is the biggest risk you take because your putting your looks on someone else's hands and I would want to have the best for the job regardless of what country they are in

I appreciate how some people can be frightened by the idea of going abroad to have it done some of my very own family at first was like are you sure about this but I would recommend this company with my life everyone I know who has been there was happy I am happy and the service I got was 5star and better then I would of got here in the uk. For starters when u have a nose job here ur in and out same day there I stayed over night and had constant care not that it was needed but I was brought ice packs etc food and looked after here your just sent home to deal with it yourself so I'm sorry but I disagree with discouraging going abroad I'm not saying everywhere is good but where I went was
