So excited to have this interview on Wednesday but dispairing at the thought of having no smart clothes.

I've been at home with kids for years and have lost confidence.

Please share any style or grooming tips. I'm short and out of shape and I like wearing black.

Thank you wise style section! I appreciate it.

Make sure you feel like yourself, so no need for 'killer heels' if it's not you.
Black is fine but I'd put a coloured jacket, shoes or something with it.
What's the dress code? I think a bit smarter than what you'd be expected to wear is good. You need to look like you're making an effort.

Good luck!

First off- congrats!! You've done great so far getting the interview so that's brilliant. I find that as long as you look smart then it's fine. The thing interviewers notice is confidence! I have interviewed many, many people over the years and trust me as long as you look smart (maybe shirt and trousers and possibly jacket? Doesn't have to be expensive!) then that's really all you need to do.

Just be confident and down to earth and you will absolutely kill it!

Good luck, not that you'll need it! I'll have my fingers crossed for you. Let us know how you get on!

Oh yes sorry and also to second @AsTheMilesTheyDisappear make sure it's something you feel comfortable in. Nothing worse than feeling uncomfortable and nervous at the same time!!

Congrats on the interview. Fist I would echo the others, be smart and comfortable - so no killer heels, but unless you are 6 ft tall I would wear some kind of heel, maybe mid height.
What kind of clothes do people who work there wear? If they are all super casual I would still go smart for the interview but I am short and I think a dress and jacket or a smart dress (if it's a hot day) looks well put together.

Have nice, clean hair, and a smile - that is the winner when I have interviewed people - if someone smiles warmly at me I never remember their clothes.
Best of luck - I'm really excited for you.

First!!!!!

Smart smart smart, but comfortable. Flat shoes are fine as long as they’re smart - I have some black leather brogues that go with everything (including jeans and a blazer if i’m feeling it) & they are my interview fallback shoes if I don’t want to wear heels.

Make sure your nails, hair, makeup are good. Subtle jewellery unless you’re interviewing at a very creative workplace.

Thank you all!

Everything you've said makes sense - nerves are dissipating slightly Grin

The office is smart casual and creative, so scope for a bit of edge. But comfort absolutely first or it will add to the nerves.

Trying to find a hairdresser for an early blow dry...

Mine are from [coughs] New Look, but they fit well & I walk for miles between meetings etc when i’m at work so I wear the soles down quickly. I keep them clean & polished so they look a bit more expensive...
