Daft highlights question.

I have mid/dark brown hair. My hairdresser has been adding more and more blonde highlights each time l go back. Whole head / half - alternating.
My daft question is: will the highlights build up more and more to give a blonder appearance?
I’m trying to avoid an actual colour ( if that makes sense?)
Thank you...

Yes - I hadn't really thought this through! Started getting (subtle/fine) highlights about 18 months ago with the idea of blending greys in to my natural dark brown. But over a year or so the ends of my hair (mid length) were really quite light and dyed looking. Last set I've asked for a lowlight in with highlight and it is better. But the whole shebang is higher maintenance than I'd anticipated.

Yes. I started, like LtGreggs doing something similar about 18 months ago.

I’d originally just wanted a semi-permanent to blend in the grey but he said this would give a better result. It got a lot lighter than I wanted over time. It was a nice colour in itself but just a bit too light for my skin tone/eyes.

When I mentioned maybe going back a bit darker/having some low lights, he got all huffy about his work/creation being ruined.

New hairdresser is much better at listening!

I get 2 blonde ones and a brown put in on one visit, then 1 blonde and 2 brown on the next, keeps it form going too blonde.

Get them to only do the re-growth. I get my hair highlighted and this works for me.

Have two or three different colours done. I have a highlight and one of my own colour out through iykwim? That way, I don’t end up all one shade, over time 😊
