Temporary Hair Dye (Pink!)

My DD wants to dye her brunette hair pink for the summer hols. I've looked at some box dyes, but not sure they will take on dark hair?

Any recommendations / advice of how DD can get pink hair? Needs to be temporary so she can be back to brunette by the time she's going back to school in Sep.

Thanks!

They wont take on dark hair.
The only way to get pink would be to bleach the ends like an ombre and then dye them pink and cut off before school starts. Would she be happy with that?

Bright pink or pastel? The hair needs to be lightened, and for pastels it will need to be quite a lot lighter. The only 'temporary' way to do it is to colour over it in Sept, and bleached hair doesn't always hang onto colour very well so it may become an ongoing project to keep it dark until the lighter hair grows out.

Pink won't show on dark hair without bleaching first.

I do what Ducks suggests for my DD every summer. Bleach and dye the bottom 4-6 inches then she has it cut before school starts again. Best of both worlds 👍.

Thank you all! Bleaching the ends, then pink dye and finally a good haircut before school sounds like the best plan.

Is there a cheap way to do this? Don't want to pay a hairdresser a fortune, but also don't want to do any unnecessary damage to DD!

Is her hair dyed already, if it's not, a home bleach kit like this:
www.superdrug.com/B-Blonde/Jerome-Russell-Bblonde-Lightening-Kit-Med-Dark/p/678615

Should lighten it enough to be able to dye it pink, you could try this:

www.superdrug.com/Hair/Hair-Colourants/Coloured-Hairsprays/Live-Lightener-Twist-Mauve-Kiss-105/p/750077

Which has a lightener in it already.

Remember to lightly backcomb the hair along the line where you bleach, so as not to leave a super straight line all around.
