I've just bought and fallen totally in love with this dress for a wedding next month. It fits perfectly everywhere except round my bum Blush I can't really sit down in it! Can anyone tell me if they think it could be altered? I really really want to wear it

Is there any seam allowance inside?

Aridane · 11/06/2018 19:53

I would say probably not

frenchfancy · 11/06/2018 19:53

To alter things you need to size up. Buy a size that will fit your bum and then find someone to take it in. Much easier that way round.

Justonedayatatime11 · 11/06/2018 20:01

It's sold out everywhere in a size 8 Sad my only other option is to shrink my bum/thighs in the next 4 weeks... any suggestions?!

put a zip down the entire back skirt seam and undo it when you sit downWink

Justonedayatatime11 · 11/06/2018 20:06

ten Grin I'm contemplating buying another one in the same size and seeing if extra material can be added in around the bum!

Adding in extra material for your bum is never going to be flattering.

Aridane · 11/06/2018 20:18

It’s showing as being available in an 8, 10 and 16!

Aridane · 11/06/2018 20:19

So buythe size 10 or 16!!

purplepaper · 11/06/2018 20:21

Oh no I can relate. Have you tried wearing control wear can't remember I think they are called spanx sometimes this helps

purplepaper · 11/06/2018 20:27

Sorry just reread the post again agree with Adriane, get the 10 or 16 from Dorothy Perkins to alter with tailor

winterisstillcoming · 11/06/2018 20:28

I had to do this recently. See if someone can let it out. If not, I did Spanx, aqua ban, protein only for a few days before plus loads of water, 30 day shred. It wasn't nice and I expanded back straight away, but they were desperate times. Try and get the size up.

I'm a seamstress! Adding fabric is no where near as easy as people think - especially in a style like that. If there's nothing to let out in the seams, (including the lining) I would recommend buying a bigger size and having it taken in - but don't go too much bigger or you could replace old problems with new ones.

tenredthings · 11/06/2018 21:43

Sew the slit up at the back and put two long slits in each side, use the spare dress to make matching knickers.

Aridane · 11/06/2018 23:02

But the bigger size!!!!!
