A cardigan to go with this dress?

I've been asked to be a godmother to my friend's child in a few weeks. Obviously this is a lovely honour and I'm really pleased about it.

However, I've put on a bit of weight recently and my old dresses don't fit so I've brought this dress in the picture. I know cold-shoulders aren't massively popular on MN but I like it - it's flattering, green suits me & it's an appropriate length for church.

When I've shown it to my friend, she wasn't altogether happy because of the bare shoulders and it's quite low at the back.

My friend is lovely and I don't want to embarrass her in front of her church friends but I really like the dress! Can anybody think of a nice cardigan/shrug/anything that might go with the dress without looking crap?

I'm early 30s, size 16 and tend to suit greens, golds and browns if that's any help?

I always find mustard goes well with green. Or you could look for something of a similar shade to the lighter pink flowers on the dress.

It's a lovely dress, btw.

I would go for a very simple white cardigan

How about a little cropped blazer? This sort of thing. You could take it off as soon as you were out of church.

Boden cropped cardigan would be great

Thank you for the suggestions. I hadn't thought about a cropped blazer but that would work.

I've never shopped in Biden before, but that cardigan in the mustard is lovely.

I have a number of these cardigans from Boden - wearing the blue one as I type! They are great quality and work well when a jacket is too stuffy but you don't want to look scruffy.
