What's your favourite bar soap?

I'm looking for a sulphate-free, non-animal tested bar soap. I like Aveda products but can't find any bar soaps on their site.

Pears

Dodu Osun - Nigerian black soap. Smells slightly disinfectant-y, lathers well and doesn’t crack. Also have Dr Bronner’s liquid soap in the kitchen.

I first saw this then in Neal's Yard Remedies. Creamy, last for ages, triple mulled, organic and smell amazing.

Not sure re sulphates but I'm liking the Body Shop olive soap at the moment.

QueenoftheSilverDollar12 · 11/06/2018 07:33

Outback Mate by Lush. Gorgeous smell and makes you feel really clean. Expensive though 😃

Tiddlywinks63 · 11/06/2018 07:44

Nesti Dante from Amazon, huge bars, incredible perfumes and last ages.
Definitely the best soap I have ever used.

I smell so much fresher then using shower gel

Oh really? That's interesting because lately I've noticed that I can start to smell a bit 'sour' and I can't understand why. I'm reapplying deodorant a few times a day and showering every day so I couldn't understand it.

I wouldn't say I smell fresher using shower gel but I do feel cleaner and fresher when I use shower gel rather than soap.

PlantsArePeopleToo · 11/06/2018 23:44

When I say I don't smell fresher I mean I've never noticed s difference.

Shower gel never dries my skin out either but soap tends to do that.

QueenofLouisiana · 12/06/2018 03:54

I use Shield- not at all exciting so I’m off to look at these lovely soaps. I have seen a massive decrease in my KP on my arms since I switched to soap rather than shower gel. Incredible.

I always have some Mysore Sandalwood soap on the go. It scents the bathroom beautifully and is a good quality hard soap, so lasts for ages and is cheap. You can buy it on eBay and Amazon. Here is a link:

I made my own oatmeal, shea, calendula and lavender on Sunday using a melt and pour I bought from a company called mystic moments. They sell direct or on amazon and it's super easy to do as you literally cut it up, pour in a double boiler, add your essential oils and whatever else you want, melt and then pour into a mould.

My friend said I was creative, but tbh I just don't want to pay an arm and a leg for products just because they are natural!

It was £7.70 for 1kg including delivery. I used a quarter of it and made 3 bars of soap. If you don't want to make your own, you can use as is, it's just a very plain bar. BUT, you can buy other melt and pour bars with added stuff like goat milk, honey, Shea, etc.

Melt and Pour Soap Base Organic - 1Kg https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B005A2RYHA/ref=cmswwrcppapiii_fy1hBbETGN627

I've bought some prettier moulds for next time!

For years now I've only used pure olive oil soap from holland and Barrett. It's £1.05 for a bar. My daughter gets patches of psoriasis from different products and this doesn't cause flare ups, I use it now thought because it's really moisturizing

goose1964 · 12/06/2018 13:16

I have a Lush one they brought out a couple of christmases ago. I'm still using it

BagelGoesWalking · 12/06/2018 15:27

I'd like to try Chuckling Goat soaps as I've heard they are good. There was a similar thread recently with lots of recommendations. I can't link on my oboe but I've added a pic with the thread title.

Odylique keeps appearing on my FB feed for some reason, natural, vegan etc and they do bar soaps.

greenegg, yes, there is a chanel soap

Bith Coco and Diptique last me about 3 months, I think.

MotherWol · 12/06/2018 20:44

Laughing Bird shea butter soap - I'm working through all the scents - and Little Soap Company - I love the Rose Geranium, planning to try the Peppermint & Poppyseed and Lavender & Rosemary next.

whataboutbob · 12/06/2018 21:53

I make all my own soaps using the cold process method. My ingredients are olive oil, coconut oil, Shea butter and lye. The only animals I test on are DH and DSs. A friend showed me how to do it, then I went on a half day course to improve my technique. Not everyone’s cup of tea but I’ve never looked back. My eczema is a lot better.

twilightcafe · 12/06/2018 21:55

Sunlight Soap.

Furrycushion · 12/06/2018 22:04

TK Maxx have lots of nice ones. On the other thread people recommended the ones in Holland and Barrett

nervousnails · 13/06/2018 08:23

calmwhoknows my local sri lankan/indian shop sells that soap at 2 for a pound. Never knew that one's actually a good soap. Will try this weekend. Thanks!

Calmwhoknows · 13/06/2018 09:30

That’s a bargain, hardasnails!

Calmwhoknows · 13/06/2018 09:31

Whoops - nervousnails!

Deathraystare · 14/06/2018 09:44

Pears and Imperial Leather. I also used to love those Bronnley lemon soaps. Also Lush Karma soup.

kikashi · 14/06/2018 10:05

I use Nesti dante soaps. The fragrance lasts the whole bar through. My favourite is the lavender. The bathroom smells clean and nice and I feel really clean
