Skincare people: where would you fit a Vit C into this routine?

The Ordinary silicone Vit C...

Skin pushing towards the oily side of combination, hormonal acne now mostly under control.

Could I fit it in before sunscreen in the morning? But...I’ve heard it can be a bit tacky and pile and I still need to put makeup on after my sunscreen

I use the LRP vitamin C in the morning after TO Buffet then tinted moisturiser spf 30. If I’m going to be outside a lot I use the LRP aerosol spf50 which I find brilliant as it goes on invisibly over make up

Andthenshesaid · 10/06/2018 18:59

You use your spf after makeup?!! Haven’t heard of that before

So you think in the morning?

Anthelios invisible mist sorry I can’t copy and paste for some reason

I think morning should work fine for you. I use TO granactive 2% in the evening. My skin is looking great!

This might be useful x

I just read your OP again, saw you have oily skin. I have an oily chin which gets hormonal breakouts. I find TO niacinamide and zinc fantastic, and my teens use it too and it has eliminated their acne. I have read that niacinamide and Vit C don’t work well together so maybe try the niacinamide at night. It’s very light, like a serum, and less than I fiver so I’d recommend trying that too

What form of vit c is TO silicone one?

Only L-AA needs to be at a low ph so goes after cleansing/acid toner. All others MAP, SAP and the other one that is oil soluble (can’t remember chemical name), work at higher ph so can go before moisturiser.

I use the LRP Vitamin C in the morning followed by Effaclar & then Anthelios, used to use the other Ordinary one instead in the same order. I have a similar evening routine to you too & I think you're not meant to use Vitamin C & Retinol together so I keep the Vit C to the morning and Retinol to the evening.

I’ve not long got the Ordinary vit C suspension and use it at night as I find it a little greasy

Andthenshesaid · 10/06/2018 21:42

Yes I don’t use anything else with the retinol as it gets a bit stingy

I’m adding new things in really slowly but have got nicinimide (sp?) on my list.

I’m not sure what kind of Vit C the TO one is. Will google and see. Have just tried it tonight and missed a retinol night, feels lovely going on

Just checked and it’s L-AA, so should I use it after sunscreen?

I had to bin the ordinary vitamin c as it was in a horrible glooky silicone suspension making it impossible to layer. Usually it's cleanser, ph adjuster, bha then vitamin c. I've got the Vichy vitamin c drops now which I'm very happy with.

Andthenshesaid · 10/06/2018 22:14

XiCi, skin feels lovely but not sure how long anything on top would last before it slid off.

If it’s L AA that has to be at a v low ph to work. The same as salicylic or glycolic acid. Put it after a ph adjusting toner (if you use one) or after cleansing. Leave for 15 mins before other products (as you’ll raise the ph so it doesn’t work effectively).

Treat it like an acid due to low ph and go easy with it. Use a couple of times a week to build up tolerance.

Ok so vit c after cleansing before anything else in am. Ordinary vit c is crap. Skinceuticals / medik8 is the best you'll find
