For a school awards ceremony. She lives in jeans and sports kit and will not wear a dress. Any ideas welcome??!!

My dd, same age, won't wear dresses but will wear jumpsuits or playsuits. Lots of nice, dressy ones around. Would that be any good?

BiggerBoat1 · 10/06/2018 14:55

My DD same age is exactly the same. Mine will wear leggings with a top though. H&M have some quite nice things for girls who are not girly!

Black skinny jeans as a neutral bottom half, then you can play around with the top half. Peasant blouse? Cold shoulder?

DD (12) is at a similar stage and at Christmas we compromised with a polo neck sleeveless T-shirt under a black spangly jumper with lace cutouts down the sleeves. It looked special enough and neither babyish nor too old.
See if I can find a non-identifying photo...

Imagine these two together...

Thanks. Dress code is specific about no jeans. Jumpsuit could be a goer.

New look have some lovely ones in.
If she doesn't like the practicality of a jumpsuit, some nice trousers and a top would look lovely Smile this ones not very girly!

There are some lovely culottes around that get the DD seal of approval and could be mistaken for (gasp!) a skirt!
I like the idea of a plain light coloured smooth tank top and high waisted culottes with a “paper bag” tied belt.

Playsuit or jumpsuit - let’s available in new look, ASOS etc

Cigarette trousers and a Bardot style top?

Year 6 DD found a top, white Bermuda shorts and a beautiful pair of grey soft leather trainers on Massimo Dutti. Given how little we spend on clothes, it felt fine to splash out.

Britney I love that but dd thinks not smart enough and also sold out on her size Sad
