Are swim dresses frumpy?

I’m a bit fat and have a swim dress I could wear on holiday. Just wondering if you think they are frumpy? Dare I say they make you look bigger than you are?

What about something like this

Branleuse · 10/06/2018 20:50

honestly just wear the swimsuit you feel most comfortable in and that makes you want to get in the water. Swim dresses are nice, One piece costumes are nice, tankinis - nice, bikinis, nice.

Its the most ridiculous thing to judge another woman for. If you think my swimsuit is frumpy, i just dont give a fuck. It was the one I wanted to wear that day

@Bran.... but women (and men) do judge women (what they wear/their size/body condition). It’s dreadful but it happens all the time.

Cliona1972 · 10/06/2018 22:30

Frumpy, maybe, but my chunky bits do deserve a bit of cover in a public place, so I see it as a win all around. (And I'm quite round)

AuntyJackiesBrothersSistersBoy · 10/06/2018 22:49

@Cliona 😁

AuntyJackie if you use the @ in front of a name MN sends an email to that poster to alert them that someone is referring to them. If you don't use the full name then there's a good chance that the email will be sent to someone else, not the poster that you intended.

WaitrosePigeon · 10/06/2018 23:05

Thank you for everyone’s input. I tried the swim dress on again today and it’s not doing anything for me..

Yes defo frumpy imho

AuntyJackiesBrothersSistersBoy · 11/06/2018 20:17

Oh dear, so sorry BlackAmericano, I had no idea. I thought it was just what posters “did” now as I’ve seen it so much on here. Will stop.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 11/06/2018 20:20

No need to stop. Grin Just so that you know what it does. One of my previous names is one of the ones that you did @ for, I was pretty damned surprised to have my attention drawn to a style and beauty thread, as nobody would ever accuse me of being stylish or beautiful.

If they ever do a comfortable clothes and self-acceptance topic, then I'm your woman. Grin

I love my swim dress. I can go swimming with the DC and not have to readjust every time we switch pools/go on the slide. Which is a lot!

AuntyJackiesBrothersSistersBoy · 11/06/2018 20:30

😊 Ok Black

SSmith5 · 11/10/2018 21:52

I wear a swim dress because I know men are going to be leering at women's bodies and they can't see much of me.
When I went to a hotel with my boyfriend he forgot his swimming shorts so I said they sell swimming clothes in the hotel, but he said he wouldn't go swimming if they only sell speedos
