What to buy at M&S?

I've been given £40 worth of M&S vouchers for my birthday but not sure what to spend it on. I don't shop there often so don't know what's good.
I'm 31, 5'7 and size 12-14. Due to go back to work after mat leave next month so maybe something nice for the office? Help!

Perfume

They do some nice shoes. That's probably what I'd buy. Or underwear. They do a lovely silk Cami with a lace trim for about £25, I bought a black one a while ago and it's probably the single thing I wear most! Great for layering under other tops and jumpers etc.

Go into a store and browse. Some things look great online but are naff in real life and vice versa. I love their jewellery and perfumes.

MuddyForestWalks · 10/06/2018 18:35

What sort of dress code does your office have? M&S have a surprising number of things online that look great. I like a red kimono wrap dress, a blue and white striped cotton skirt, simple vest tops, and some tapered leg cotton trousers but I need to see them IRL. Of course you can't go.wrong with nice undies. Or you could blow it on wine and chocolate in the food hall Wink

They have some nice handbags. I also think their shoes are brilliant this year.

This yellow bag is great ( I wouldn't use the silver side though). www.marksandspencer.com/faux-leather-reversible-shopper-bag/p/p60159442?&pdpredirect

I think their staple work trousers are pretty good. Have a browse.

Tights, tights and more tights.

I used to like the Indigo range but that's gone now Sad

They have some good standard black trousers (I wear for work, pull up, stretchy , straight leg, respectable, wash/dry overnight)

I prefer going on a weekday , less hectic.
And I will always see something I like after I've queued and my DD ( 16 yo and very eye-rolling at my M&S choices) won't queue again.

I got these silver brogues a few weeks ago and I love them, they’re so comfy! Also got the linen shirt in a couple of colours

OlennasWimple · 10/06/2018 23:53

Shoes and undies, with some make up as a back up plan

Duckswaddle · 11/06/2018 07:14

Thanks for all the the suggestions, think I'll pop in to store tomorrow and have a browse at the shoes.

Their chinos are really good this year. Also the linen shirts.

teta · 11/06/2018 09:35

The wide cropped linen trousers.Actually more culotte like. Very flattering and extremely good value or shoes.

cloudtree · 11/06/2018 09:36

Their beauty section is really good. I second the suggestions of liquid gold or else a lovely Shay and Blue perfume.

slalomsuki · 11/06/2018 09:48

Ive bought a couple of pairs of cotton rich 7/8 trousers this year which are comfortable and hold their shape as they have a bit of stretch in them. They have some bright colours but I went for navy and black for work and they wash well.

FredSheeran · 11/06/2018 10:50

I bought this midi skirt last week - it's very flattering, nice cotton material, under £30, and comes in several different plain colours, ie, exactly what I'd hope to find in M&S every time I go in. I'm going to get a black one when they restock.

And I really hope the fact that this simple basic summer skirt has sold out is ringing bells somewhere at M&S HQ.
