Foundation for very pale skin

Any ideas?

I can't afford to spend a massive amount but don't mind paying a bit more if it's worth it!

I'm a redhead, with very pale skin and the cheaper brands never do pale enough! I very rarely wear foundation (it's probably been 5 years since I've worn any) but am a bridesmaid for my sister at the end of next month so want to look my best.

Any brands I should be taking a look at?

TIA!

Estée Lauder Double Wear in IC1 Shell. Palest I've found.

blacklister · 09/06/2018 21:39

Although trying to find a pale powder to go over it has been a challenge since they discontinued Lucidity!

educatingarti · 09/06/2018 21:41

You could try Boots No 7. They have some very pale foundations and have a gadget to check your skin tone with and tell you what v is a good match.

whoseboots · 09/06/2018 21:43

Came on to suggest Estee Lauder Double Wear in Shell too. High street foundations are never pale enough.

HelenRose1111 · 09/06/2018 21:46

Neutral not neatest....blasted autocorrect

NotSoSimpleSally · 09/06/2018 21:46

The body shop do some lightening drops that you add to foundation if you struggle to find something.
I am whiter then white and have just purchased this.

butlerswharf · 09/06/2018 21:57

Despite trying more premium ones I always go back to Max Factor's Porcelain shade.

Ollivander84 · 09/06/2018 21:59

Ah my specialist topic Grin

Redhead here
Estée Lauder DW shell
L'Oréal infallible in porcelain
Revlon colour stay (think it's called porcelain)
Missha BB cream in #13
Dollish veil vita BB cream in purple
Makeup forever in pink porcelain
Lancôme Teint idole in 008 (don't be fooled by 005, it's actually darker!)
Tarte shape tape in porcelain
Nars sheer glow

Chocolateyescakeyes · 09/06/2018 22:24

Revlon colorstay. I reacted to Estée Lauder Double Wear, never reacted to anything before. Definitely do a small test patch first.

Griefbacon · 09/06/2018 22:29

Maybelline outlast in Ivory. American but could get from Amazon

RedDwarves · 09/06/2018 22:29

Revlon Colorstay is the best of the high street brands for pale foundations. The foundation is good too. I've been using it for years.

The others I like are a Koh Gen Do one (very difficult to find nowadays though, as it doesn't seem to be sold anywhere), but it's expensive, and the Shiseido Sheer and Perfect foundation, but it runs more expensive too ($66 AUD, not sure about GBP).

RedDwarves · 09/06/2018 22:30

Agree with this, and it's not an uncommon thing judging by online reviews.

Persephone31 · 09/06/2018 22:33

Bobbi brown foundation stick - in porcelain or alabaster

CocoAndTheChocolates · 09/06/2018 22:39

It's such a shame nicola Roberts dainty doll range seems to have vanished. I had to go to Harris's to get it so imagine my surprise when I found some in Poundland!

CocoAndTheChocolates · 09/06/2018 22:39

HARRODS

mocha78 · 10/06/2018 08:13

Another redhead here, foundations I’ve rebought are: Bourjois perfect Cc cream ivory (light coverage, cheap, may be good if you’re not used to wearing foundation), Clinique superbalanced in alabaster and at the moment I’m really liking Clinique super glow foundation in breeze.

If you go to the Clinique counter (or any counter really) and have them try a foundation on your face, sometimes they’ll give you a little pot to take home and use to see if you like it. I can get about 10 days out of these pots!

ImgoingtoSHABOOMS · 10/06/2018 09:37

Urban Decay Naked Skin 0.5 and YSL Touché Eclat in BR10 work well for me (my skin doesn't handle Double Wear as is too drying). If you want mineral Lily Lolo go very light- I use porcelain but they do one lighter China doll I think

Violetroselily · 10/06/2018 09:38

Another vote for Double Wear in Shell

Go to a counter and get colour matched - they should give you a sample to take away without needing to purchase. Otherwise it’s quite expensive for something that you won’t use a lot

StorminaBcup · 10/06/2018 09:45

I'm really pale too and the only one that doesn't make me have a slightly orange tint is bourjois city radiance (rose ivory). I'm on a tight budget too and I've found it covers really well and stays put once it's applied.

XiCi · 10/06/2018 10:15

NYX do really pale foundations, the palest is virtually white. They're cheap and surprisingly good. I bought one just to stash as a back up in case I ever ran out my usual foundation and now prefer it to the Chanel I've used for years

rollingonariver · 10/06/2018 10:28

I would buy some lightening drops - the best ones I've tried are the revolution ones but Mua and the body shop do them too. They're great and you can use any foundation you like Smile

redlittlesquirrel · 10/06/2018 21:04

You could try Boots No 7. They have some very pale foundations and have a gadget to check your skin tone with and tell you what v is a good match.

I did think about No 7 but I bought No 7 years ago (probably about 7ish - before the colour match thing they do) and although it seemed to suit me when I tried it in the shop, when I tried it later it wasn't as good a match as I thought. The same thing happened with my mum recently, despite the colour match so I'm a bit wary about No 7!

Thank you all so much for your suggestions - I've been out all day so have only just had a chance to look at them but will have a proper look tomorrow (I didn't want you all to think I asked for help and then didn't bother reading your responses!). I especially love the suggestion of getting the sample from the counters - I wouldn't have thought of that!
