“grown-up” handbag

i’ve come to the realisation, at the age of 35, that i should own a grown-up handbag. i usually use a canvas tote or similar and panic-buy something smart but cheap to match an outfit for special events. i would like something black leather, most likely quilted and with a silver chain long enough to wear cross-body. i’ve seen chanel & ysl styles i like but the budget is £100s rather than £1000s. does anyone have any suggestions please?

Try TKmax online-better selection than in shop- I got an amazing Kate Spade that way

Tkmaxx have loads of designer bags

thanks to you both for recommending to maxx - i had a look online but didn’t see anything i liked. if i had more patience i would have kept checking back as their stock changed, but i’ve been putting off choosing a grown-up bag for long enough already!

i’ve now ordered a kurt geiger kensington bag from selfridges as i liked the ‘tough’ detailing. also liked the vivienne westwood coventry bag but not sure how grown-up/timeless the lightning bolt strap would be...

I've just recommended on another post, but check out Village England, villageengland.com especially now they're on sale. Prices def low 00s, but I treat mine like utter crap and it wears really really well. Def and investment piece.
I'd hit the House of Fraser sale now also.. before they close all their stores..!!
