Dress help needed

I like the look of this dress but was wondering if it was a yay or nay.

Am 5 foot 3, slim but large of nork. I have a (Indian) summer wedding and my 40th birthday to wear something nice. Probably £200 max. So any help appreciated.

I had my colours done and am a Autumn, so red, olive green, salmon pink, oranges etc work.

I’m not sure it looks as good as it costs. But it does look nice!

HalleLouja · 08/06/2018 12:21

Her dresses are usually designed really well. Not sure if I want something a bit more clingy or if it would just hang....

Just bumping in case anyone has any other ideas of where to look.

Isn't wearing red the equivalent of wearing white to a UK wedding?

If it's your first Indian wedding this my be useful

There seems to be a lot of unwritten rules. I'm so jealous tjough

NashvilleQueen · 10/06/2018 18:24

I like it a lot. The model is wearing XS and it’s hanging off her a little (which I assume is the style). It could look a little shapeless. But it’s probably beautifully made and gorgeous to wear.

Bombardier25966 · 10/06/2018 18:46

The model is 5ft 10in. The dress will be too long for you (same problem here!).

LuluBellaBlue · 10/06/2018 18:50

Gorgeous dress, that style is likely to make you look even more top heavy though. Depends on if you want that or not Wink

Hellywelly10 · 10/06/2018 18:52

Red is a nono.

HalleLouja · 10/06/2018 20:42

I have been to an Indian wedding before. My friend has a red dress she wore to an Indian wedding but will check with one of my work colleagues who would know.

I am not completed convinced by the dress so the search goes on.

I am an Indian and its absolutely fine to wearing a red dress... no ove minds it and trust me no one can confuse the bride....

HalleLouja · 11/06/2018 09:34

Thanks Shop I hadn't heard it was a problem.

I might now have a new favourite though in this Reiss Dress.

Do not be afraid of colour to wear to an indian wedding... I'd get go to an indian shop.......

Mountainsoutofmolehills · 11/06/2018 11:02

I love Reiss camilla batwing. But it's not for an indian wedding. These events are a riot of colour. If you don't feel comfortable wearing indian dress, then definitely go for a bolt of beautiful fabric as a scarf, wrap to give you some va va vooom.

Maverick66 · 11/06/2018 11:23

Much prefer the Reiss dress. Good structure to it. Agree with previous poster on a splash of colour in a scarf or wrap.

HalleLouja · 11/06/2018 12:14

I may borrow a dress from a friend for the Indian Wedding. Or I might have something nice and bright in my wardrobe already. I live near a large Indian community and there are apparently some good shops so could go over that way.

How much would I expect to pay for a good quality Indian outfit / dress? Nothing too fancy that maybe I could re-wear.

Bubblysqueak · 11/06/2018 12:17

I love the blue dress.

HalleLouja · 12/06/2018 13:49

Argh tried both on and they both were different but lovely. Will try and upload pictures but they weren't great.

HalleLouja · 13/06/2018 14:03

Both dresses are now in the Reiss sale. They might both be on their way to me now!

BigFatBloomers · 13/06/2018 14:32

That was good timing!
I love the last dress.

HalleLouja · 13/06/2018 20:03

Unfortunately the shoes weren’t on sale but might see if there are any nice Reiss shoes on eBay.
