Brown hair and growing in the grey: advice please.

Hi. So I've not dyed my hair for a few months now. The upkeep is horrendous and I've had enough. I was dyeing every three weeks but the grey was coming in within a week.

I don't like the grey root look. It looks messy and like I haven't bothered to do my roots.

Would it work to use a semi/demi permanent colour and then stop when the grey has fully grown in? I plan to go a bit shorter to speed things up and get regular cuts. Would this work as a temporary measure?

I use a mixture of root touch up sprays and gray coloured hair wax,to blur and blend the line.

Have grey highlights run through your hair just like you would with blonde highlights

Thanks. I'm using a colour spray for nights out etc but not day to day. I've never had highlights but do plan to go blonde/platinum when the brown has gone as I'm worried about it turning orange.

Would the semi colours eventually wash out?
