Can I wear this as an every day top?

I bought this top today from Matalan plus size range, it's a gorgeous colour. When I got it home I realised it's a swimwear cover up for the pool/beach! I really just want to wear it as a top with leggings Shock

Could I get away with it or is it obviously a swimwear cover and I'd look stupid?

It's obviously a kaftan, that's not to say you can't wear it though

bassackwards · 07/06/2018 20:13

It's probably fine for casual wear although it does look beachy

Lidlfix · 07/06/2018 20:27

Does the back "v" plunge quite deep? I think I would wear it with ankle length thicker leggings or jeggings, a wedge with some height and statement necklace with a vest top under if back is plunging. Ankle length leggings as cropped with a top of that length is going keep cutting you off.

WakeUpFromYourDreamAndScream · 07/06/2018 20:54

Ok thank you. Think I'll return it, I'd feel self-conscious in it now you've agreed it's 'beachy'! Damn I really like it too 😭

I'd wear it as a 'normal' top.

Doingreat · 07/06/2018 21:01

I didn't realise it was meant to be a beachy top. It just looks like a summery top to me. Would look lovely with white jeans and tan sandals for days. Layer long gold necklaces and heels for nights out.

Don't return it Op. It looks like you could style it in loads of ways.

WakeUpFromYourDreamAndScream · 07/06/2018 21:58

Do you think @Doingreat ? I'm really torn now! I'd wear it with jeggings and my sandals and possibly a black vest top underneath as it's very low. Argh decisions!

Keep it. It's lovely. And a fab colour x

Fucksgiven · 07/06/2018 22:07

Keep it for weekends and not for work.

fluffiphlox · 07/06/2018 22:36

It’s a nice colour but it’s a bit shapeless.

Catinthecorner · 08/06/2018 00:24

I’d wear it as a normal summer top

WakeUpFromYourDreamAndScream · 08/06/2018 05:58

Thanks everyone, I'll keep it Smile

I'd keep it Smile

I have a t-shirt-like top I wear and it came from M&S sleepwear range donkeys years ago

I also have a beach floral sheer top that I wear with a vest top underneath. I tend to save it for a lovely sunny day so it doesn't look 'odd'

flumpybear · 08/06/2018 06:22

Keep it! Not really for work but casual at weekends etc fine. You could see the back bit up a bit if you're conscious of that

MrsJamin · 08/06/2018 06:23

I think it's awful and deeply unflattering, sorry. I'd take it back. You'd look several sizes bigger than you are.

lalaloopyhead · 08/06/2018 06:26

Keep it! If you like it, go with it.

I wouldn't say it was massively beachy, it doesn't look sheer or anything. In fact I think it would look better as a top - the model looks like she has forgotten to put her trousers on!

It is a gorgeous colour.

WakeUpFromYourDreamAndScream · 08/06/2018 07:12

Thank you @lalaloopyhead

Haha yes she does look like she's forgotten her trousers Grin
