Petite ladies and culottes

I’m very petite but love the idea of culottes. Will I just look like I’m drowning?

If you get the correct length on you, they could work well.

Having tried on a few I'd recommend trying to find a petite range. It isn't just the trouser length, its also the waist to crotch length. Many were cartoonish on me.

This seasons culottes I think are intended to sit at the waist rather than hip. Personally I couldn't get them to work as I found even paired with a slim fitting tucked in top to add a bit of definition, my body looked weirdly short.

Cullottes jumpsuits however (New Look Petite) have been a hit.

No, I don’t think so. I’m 5ft 3 and wear them. They’re flattering if they’re the right length for you. I buy the standard lengths and shorten them often. Some styles look right slightly longer but generally 2 inches above the ankle works for me.

Of course you can wear them. Everyone was wearing them when I was in Japan a couple of months ago and they looked fab just get the proportions right.

I'm 4 ft 10 and really fancied some culottes this summer. I tried on quite a few in different shops and couldn't find any that worked on me. Let me know if you are successful!

.@nickEcave I’m the same size all the ones I have tried made look like a demented gnome, so would be interested as well if any were found that didn’t look silly.

I've been wearing the Boden blue linen culottes in petite and they look perfectly in proportion to my 5'3 height

I tried on some regular length from Zara which don’t look too long or swamp me. I’m 5”1.
