Style changes you've made with age..

Interested to know the little ways that people have changed their style as they've got older, and wiser. I do my best to only buy/wear natural fibers - not only do the clothes look nicer, they wear better too.

I think I grew into my natural classic tendency but am more confident now. If only I'd had the confidence i have now when I was a size 10!

I wear very simple stuff for work; black dresses and trousers in winter with a coloured top or brighter cardigan. Navy in summer.

Important to buy new in classic (two or three each season) pieces, contwmporary colours etc. Just keeps it up to date. Same with bags and shoes. Changes are subtle bit five years on can look dated (obvs not a black cashmere brora cardigan).

Shoes are lower and v comfy, coats are more important. Nice ne klace to finish something simple.

And general maintenance: highlights are brown, caramel, gold, blonde to blend in the grays. Half head every 12 weeks, T bar inbetween so bairdressers 6 weekly.

Pedicure monthly; usually not gels, occasional manicure, make-up is simple: combined fpundation, blusher, under eye concealer, mascara, bit of eyeliner, lipstick. Lipsticks now a soft pink and nothing too dark.

Am quite well preserved but my one regret is not using more sunscreen. Am olive skinned and tan easily but have sun damage on my hands and arms.

And glasses - good frames and varifocals. Eyes are drier now and lenses are only for special occasions.

I no longer care what people think.

Flat shoes, including a few pairs of Softinos (very comfortable) for casual.
Less make up, but definitely spent more time/money on skin care and my skin hasn't looked so good in ages since religiously hot cloth cleansing (not a boast I promise, I mean glowy and healthy really)
I'm 40s

I’m exactly the same halfwit life is too short not to wear what you want, I love getting dressed for work for the same reason as you, I prefer my work wardrobe more than my at home wardrobe it’s the only opportunity I get to wear a pencil skirt and heels, love it.

I'll give it a try CountFosco. I know the hole in my right ear is definitely closed, but I might be able to poke through the two in my left ear. It's been at least ten years though.

I've got a lovely pair of blue glass dragon earrings that I adore, so it'll be good to be able to wear those again.

I’m with the ‘life’s too short’ contingent. I’m probably more fashion forward now than I was in my twenties (and I liked fashion then, but couldn’t afford the good stuff).

I’m 46 and my legs are still good, so I’ll wear a short (relatively. Not bum grazing, but 4 inches above my knees) denim skirt and high heeled sandals to go out in the evening, because why not? I’ve always stuck to the ‘legs out, modest top half’ rule, whatever age I’ve been.

I have more disposable income now, so I’ll buy more unusual stuff, different patterns and colours from good labels. When I was younger I couldn’t afford to buy stuff that wouldn’t go with at least three other things.

I buy better quality knitwear and coats now, because I can and because I want to look more serious and professional at work. Which a Joseph or Marella coat helps with more than a silver parka from River Island, which is what I’d have chosen aged 23.

I miss wearing stuff like glitter tattoos (remember those?) and tiaras for nights out though!
