Could be rather a specialist question but...
I need new safety (lab) glasses - has anyone got some nice ones recently?
They’re usually so heavy that they hurt my nose and ears, but I’ve not had new ones for at least 5 years, so I’m hoping they’ve moved on!
Hit me with suggestions please, fellow geeks!

It depends on what you need them for. We have a few pairs of these knock around our lab. We don't really need them for the work we do. We have proper goggles for handling liquid nitrogen.

My son in law has an eye problem and needs to get tinted ones for uni lab work. He lives in them and they look just like sunglasses, if they're the sort of things you're after ( not necessarily tinted) I could find out where he got them

Bugger, forgot to say.. it’s prescription ones I need! And nothing special, just side protection.

Any recommendations from the evening crowd?

Do you have any choice? We get a voucher for a specific opticians and the choice is... limited. Now I'm getting old I am trying to wear ordinary LEP like the ones sillyswimmer recommends but they also annoy me. I don't need glasses to read paperwork but can't read the screens on the lab computers without them. My optician says I don't need varifocals yet though.

As far as I know we just find some then apply for a voucher. It’s probably not that simple though!

I would check what kind of voucher you’ll get first, a lot of places just do a spec savers voucher... I’m afraid their safety frames are pretty grim! I prefer the sports style ones for face fit and comfort, rather than the “normal glasses” with those horrible extra plastic bits on the side. Mine are Bolle countours but the limit on the prescription may be too low depending on what you need.
