What to wear to wedding reception

I’ve been invited to amevening wedding reception in August. I’ve only ever been to one of these before, the rest of the time I’ve been for the whole day. Is there anything different about what to wear? I tried on a gorgeous black and white striped midi strapless ted baker dress a few months ago and have managed to find it in the sale. With a pair of brightly coloured heels would that do or too formal for ‘just’ the reception?

Hi, I think sounds fine most evening do’s I have been to people still dress up just without the hat, which would look a bit strange at night😃

Without seeing the dress I think that sounds perfect. Those that were invited to the entire day presumably won’t have changed their clothes so I don’t think you’d need to dress any differently as an ‘evening only’ guest.

Here it is!

I've never worn a hat to a wedding, I just didn’t want to look overdressed for ‘just’ the reception bit...

Great dress! I don’t think you’d look overdressed at all.
