Help - How to tone down the brassiness?!!

Just had my hair coloured a fairly ash brown but it’s still fairly brassy (grrr!). Would using a silver or purple (is there a difference?) tone down the brassy tones but not lighten the brown? Thank you 👍

I need the same thing. My colour is fine when it goes on, but goes brassy and is lightened as soon as any sun goes on it. I saw an advert in boots magazine today for Charles worthington (I think) blue shampoo. It said in the ad that blue does for brown hair what purple does for blonde - ie tone down the brassiness. Tempted to give it a try.

If you’ve had it professionally coloured they should tone down the brass for free. It certainly doesn’t hurt to ask.

Clean blonde by Fudge is amazing and way better than any shop bought shampoo for toning brassiness. You can add some to your usual shampoo.

For brown and blonde hair

I use the Charles Worthington ultra violet on my blonde highlights and it does a fantastic job. Would definitely recommend this range

Touch of silver shampoo works on my blonde, I think it's more blue than purple...

Fanola no yellow shampoo is amazing. Best one I've used.

I've used this as a one off and general conditioning treatment on brown hair, it's pretty good. Multi applications.

Yy to Fanolo no yellow shampoo - brilliant but does stain everything purple Grin

Aridane · 04/06/2018 22:21

Another one for Fanola No Yellow

CutesyUserName · 04/06/2018 23:05

Yep, Fanola No Yellow is the best out there.

If it’s orange tones rather than yellow then a blue shampoo and conditioner will be better for you than purple
