DH and I are off on a mini break at the end of the month. Soooooo excited. We will be swimming a lot and I want to look half decent. I've never had a waterproof mascara before, I always use tubing mascaras like benefit they're real or Estée Lauder double wear mascara.

Tubing mascaras? I have really curly lashes so got lots of smudging. The only mascara that has never done this for me is the one you mentioned, Estée Lauder double wear. I've tried alternatives but nothing compares.

It's not waterproof though, is it? It's not on me, anyway, and I really need something waterproof for this holiday. All suggestions welcome.

The one I have definitely is... Why don't you get them tinted?

Chicinwellies · 05/06/2018 04:27

This ! www.beautybay.com/makeup/eyeko/sportwaterproofmascara/ Eyeliner Waterproof. It is amazing. Totally waterproof, and beautifully curving and never clumpy. My M&S sell it, but obvs you can get it at beauty bay etc. Removes with Simple eye makeup remover. I do a lot of paddle boarding and sea swimming and this is the only waterproof mascara that I trust ! Have a lovely break.

Sorry - silly predictive text that should read Eyeko!

Happycow · 05/06/2018 05:36

I've used max factor false lash effect (the black tube) in waterproof for years. Never had any problems!

That said I have to use one of those oil/water eye make removers (that you shake rogether) as creamy ones or cleansing balms won't shift it.

Sensai 38

I use this L'Oreal Paris Double Extension Mascara - tubing sort https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0046U3CM8/ref=cmswwrcppapiii_nbTfBb42C09KB

Excellent with contact lenses and doesn't even come off while swimming

Lotsofsausage · 05/06/2018 20:46

The loreal one does come off with water, that's the only way - to soak it off with water (but a bit of splashing would be ok but full submersion would do it)

I generally find most waterproof mascaras smudge with my oily skin but won't wipe off easily!

Have you considered individual lash extensions?

WellTidy · 06/06/2018 15:47

Thanks all. Going with the Eyeko one after reading that it doesn't come off during sea swimming! I am a wuss when it comes to anything being done near my eyes so tinting or lash extensions are a no for me. The EYEKO mascara comes in a travel size for a tenner so that's a bonus.

I second the Eyeko. Never tried the waterproof one but I wear the yoga one. Friend called me unexpectedly today and asked if I wanted to go to an outdoor pool. Forgot I had mascara on but it didn’t budge.

WellTidy · 02/07/2018 11:12

Coming back to say that the Eyeko was fantastic. It didn't budge even with swimming and full submersion in water.

But - I really struggled to remove it! I tried the Simple eye eye make up remover that says on the bottle that it removes waterproof mascara, but it didn't budge. I also tried loreal micellar water (which removes benefit they're real mascara, which is a bugger to remove), but no joy there either.

In the end, I used my normal face cleaner, but I would rather use something that is for eyes. Any suggestions please?

Olive oil removed it for me. Smeared it over my eyes then usd a hot wet cloth to remove it .

LadyOfTheCanyon · 02/07/2018 15:10

For future reference, tubing mascaras are waterproof if you're not going full submersion. For me, waterproof formulations don't work as well to get the effect I like and are bastards to remove, so it's tubing all the way for me.

I’m having a right giggle to myself - I am off on a mini break with DH again next week and am doing my shopping to get everything I need. I googled to find out what I should buy to remove waterproof mascara - and I found my own four year old thread! I will add olive oil to my packing list!!
