I'm about 3 stone overweight and going abroad soon. I don't look hideously fat, but I don't think that I'm comfortable enough to wear a bikini - unless there's some magic ones out there that will make me look acceptable on the beach?!?

Failing that, a decent swimming costume will be needed. Any of you have ideas about where a less than slim woman can beachwear that's appropriate?!

I recently went on holiday and am overweight too.
Some tips are make sure you buy your size or a size up as bikini digging into your side can make you look bigger.

Buy a cover up dress, something really light to throw over as you go to beach/pool side.

Try tk maxx , I bought two swim suits from there and there are gorgeous! They had tummy control and made my normally bloated tummy look a lot slimmer.

Boden have lots of mix/match bikinis, I like the 'boy shorts' instead of 'pants' for extra coverage!!
Figleaves and bravissimo both also offer a range of sizes/shapes. My best advise though is to get one that fits properly and you feel comfortable in.
Personally I am happy to wear a bikini abroad, although agree w a nice 'cover-up' as well, monsoon/accessorise for that??

Try Forluna - just got an ace 50s style bikini with very high waisted bottoms and flattering top. I'm also carrying a bit extra this summer but really want to wear a bikini anyway

I’ve just bought a couple of stripy bikinis from Tk Maxx. I sized up and they have good bottom coverage and upper scaffolding without being wired - my pet hate. They’re online and are called nip swum tuck ( or something like that).Im a 14 and yes overweight but trying to lose it !

PeanutButterLips · 04/06/2018 19:45

Teta mine was from the same brand at tk maxx and I love it!
Beautiful design and fits well

I would go high waisted. Having just returned from a holiday where I didn’t but a bikini I regret it as no one else cared and many were much bigger than i was.

However, look at Debenhams and get one in your bra size as they look better, if you do go for a full swimsuit (or bikini actually).

Or get a good tankiki from swimwear365

They’re so lovely peanut aren’t they?
Also really flattering and comfortable. I hate feeling uncomfortable on holiday and bound up in underwire. I bought one today after trying it on in store.
Then when I perused the website I saw another colour online.I’m just sad that I missed the Tankinis in my size.
Op Tk Maxx also has some kaftans online. I bought a white lacy cotton one today in store and have ordered a black lacy cotton one online.
