Opinions on this jacket please?

I bought this jacket in H&M last week but I'm not sure about it now. I've shown it to a couple of friends and one liked it and the other said it was a bit meh. It would just be to wear with jeans and a top if I was going out in the evening. It's a very soft, almost moleskin-y feeling material. Any opinions? Is it ok or is it frumpy/dull/uber-unfashionable? I'm 37 in case that's relevant. If it is crap any suggestions for a trendier alternative are welcome!

Sorry for the crap photos; I can't find it on the website to do a link and I've never taken mirror selfies before.

To be honest it looks too small.

DuchyDuke · 04/06/2018 14:51

I think it’s too long in the body and a bit too loose around the waist. If it’s casual then you need something that ends just a bit higher

HeyDolly · 04/06/2018 14:58

I think it looks a size too small tbh. Other than that, it’s more of a classic basic rather than something trendy. I’d wear it too work or casual during the day rather than on a night out though.

TroubledLichen · 04/06/2018 15:03

I really like the jacket but for work. I’d wear it with jeans for dress down Friday or over a dress for everyday office wear. Definitely doesn’t say night out to me. And it looks a bit too small, size up if you do decide to buy it.

CherryBlossom23 · 04/06/2018 15:04

It's a bit meh, there's nothing really special about it. I think the size is okay though. Might look better with something high waisted

Spam88 · 04/06/2018 15:08

It's not the most exciting garment I've ever seen but it's fine. Probably wouldn't wear it for a night out unless it was with some jazzy trousers. I agree that it's a bit of a funny length - great for work, but could do with being either shorter or longer and slouchier for casual.

PugwallsSummer · 04/06/2018 15:12

I think it has more of an "office" look than casual with jeans. I also think it looks a little small - like you wouldn't be able to do it up.

VetOnCall · 04/06/2018 15:53

Thanks all! I think overall it's a no so back it goes. It doesn't do up, there are no fastenings on it. The size is ok, I think it's just the way I was standing to get the photos makes it look a bit weird, I tried the next size up and it was baggy, but I'm going to return it anyway. Cheers!

Why not get a cool material biker jacket ? It is seriously dull to be honest . You have a great figure which could look much better .

Ohyesiam · 04/06/2018 16:22

Mainly I think you could look good in a bin bag.

wobblebot · 04/06/2018 16:25

Not too bothered about the jacket but my god, your legs are fantastic!

summerinrome · 04/06/2018 16:26

You look lovely in your shorts, the jacket is not the best I have seen. The colour adds nothing, the cut adds nothing but you look great anyway but would think you could find something better for the money.

TeaAddict235 · 04/06/2018 16:31

I think that it looks good @VetOnCall , it looks cool in a sophisticated way. In fact I'd wager that it looks ahead of the current styles. I'd pair it with a very nice clutch bag. Those shorts could work. The size is fine as it fits your to die for body shape. It looks like something that I see as I trudge home via South Kensington Tube Station and all the young springy things are surfacing looking fresh and ready for the weekend. Very Sloaney.

Mercurial123 · 04/06/2018 18:16

I would wear it to the office it's not very exciting.

VetOnCall · 04/06/2018 20:39

Oh god thank you all Blush I don't actually wear those shorts out in public as I thought they were a bit too short, I'd been sitting out in the garden, but I might do it now Grin Going online to look for a funkier jacket now!
