Manicure for nails of zero length

I've never been able to grow my nails long. They're all different lengths. Brittle. Generally rubbish.

I really don't want false nails or gels. But would a manicure in general help my nails? I don't want to be laughed at in the beauty salon!

In your situation I ended up getting gels, it gave my nails strength and stopped me being able to pick or bite them. I had gels for a month (done twic) and by the time I took them off I had some length to my nails. I then used a strengthening nail varnish for a while. I now have long, strong nails.

I know you don't want gels but it's unlikely a standard manicure will do much more than tidy them up for you. You need to strengthen your nails and give them time to grow.

I have short nails at the moment and have painted them a Tom Ford smokey red, think it's called. Just go to a salon, but short nails can look good groomed.

I highly reccomend OPI's Nail Envy to strengthen your nails.

You can get it either as a basic transparent polish or in these coloured versions:

Cuticle oil like CND solar oil will help, apply to area around nail at least 3 times a day and massage in - it helps to feed and hydrate the part of the nail that’s growing so improves the condition of the nail over time.

My nails are the same. Short, brittle, will never be strong etc. I often have shellac and they look fine and make me feel pretty and professional Smile

Ibx is a uv cured nail strengthener, it’s very effective and will help your nails grow.

Available in all good saloons, you can’t see it when It’s on. Good housekeeping did a review on it.

My nails are soft, bendy and flaky. I'm usually a nail biter but I've just had gel polish on to stop me biting them and strengthen them. It's great, they are super strong and growing well, I'm planning on having it redone once more (so about 5 weeks of growth) then seeing how my natural nails have done. I've managed to grow them to a decent length only once before and then I religiously took a skin, hair and nails supplement every day, it really seemed to help.

Have you tried taking a nail/hair supplement at all?

I have noticed a very big difference in my nails since i started taking Collagen, which was actually for trying to iron out my face a bit, but my hair and nails seem to have benefited more so than the wrinkles.

I had a problem with my nails splitting as I also keep them short. I dont have have any polish on them at the moment and they are looking healthy and the tips are really white. Ok, i have to cut my hair a bit more often (I think i am ageing in reverse, my hair is getting thicker.....) which is fine by my book.
