Hiya

I'm booked in to get a consultation for getting rid of the horizontal lines on my forehead.

Anyone had this treatment? What can I expect? Will they use Botox or derma fillers? Will it hurt? How often do I need to get it re done?

I'm going with Smileworks in Liverpool.

Thanks

Botox probably, I've had azzalure which is similar
Doesn't hurt really, felt like little ant bites! I had no marks or bruising and it's just wearing off now, was done in Feb

Hi there, I work in Aesthetics and administer Toxin every day. No, it doesn't really hurt, maybe a slight sting. It will be Toxin that is used to relax dynamic lines on your forehead. Dermal fillers are more usually used for volumising the face. Be aware that it is usual to treat the 'scowl' or 11'ss at the same time as the forehead due to the interaction between the muscles.

The re-treatment time is a minimum of 12 weeks. Your practitioner should always book you in for your treatment and results to be reviewed 2-3 weeks after your treatment.

For the first year you should budget that you will require the treatment every 3 months.

I can see you have booked in to a dental practice and it is essential that you are seeing a medically trained professional. Alternativley, I can highly recommend Lip Doctor Aesthetics in Maghull.

I had my first ever Botox about 5 weeks ago .
Noticed nothing for ten days to two weeks .
Now totally love it .
It didn't hurt .
I'm 47 and had 2 areas . Frown lines and crows feet .
For me the best bit was the lifting of the saggy bit above my eye crease . I look less tired , def younger and feel so much better . I love it .
I went to a doctor who has been doing it many years privately at a beauty salon and was well recommended . He reviewed me 2 weeks later and he had as many questions for me at the initial consultation as I did him ( ie he wanted to be sure I was making an informed choice ) .
I'm thinking 3 times a year so prob every 4 months .
Good luck .
Hope your as pleased as I was .

I've had this in my 11's a few times now.
I've always been happy with the results and it doesn't really hurt.

For me it just doesn't last long enough and I always have a headache for a while after.

Tinkerbellx · 03/06/2018 13:15

How long does yours last please Eff ?
The lady on reception where I go said the more you have it the longer it lasts and now she just needs once a year but prob 3 times first few years ?

hugitout10 · 03/06/2018 13:21

mine lasts 4 months max. tiny pin pricks no real pain, have to wait maybe 4 days for results to start and then usually full effects from day 10.

itsbritneybiatch · 03/06/2018 18:49

Thanks for all the responses.

So it won't look any different at first then it will look better after a few days?

Will it get rid of all the lines do you think?

Probably Botox unless your lines are very deep set then they'd offer filler maybe.

Does your budget stretch to 11's between the brows and crows feet? Seems silly just to do one area and it's not usually recommended.

Secretsout · 03/06/2018 20:00

itsbritney Toxin will relax your dynamic lines I.e. the lines that occur on movement. Over time, and with repeated treatment, it can improve Static lines, those that are there when you are expressionless. I usually use the analogy that if you fold and crease a piece of paper repeatedly that crease will remain but when you stop folding the paper the crease won’t get any worse.

The results are not instant as the toxin prevents and blocks the release of the protein which makes your muscles work and this takes time. The onset of the result is dependent on a number of factors including the brand of toxin used.

Your Practitioner should explain all of this too you.

I love my Botox appts. I look fresh not frozen and the difference makes me feel so much better. Go for it you’ll be thrilled you did!

MrsZippyLake · 03/06/2018 20:03

I was considering Botox earlier this year but the experiences of members on the forum "Botox support community" scared the life out of me.

Dontbuymesocks · 03/06/2018 20:12

I have lines in my forehead and Botox doesn’t get rid of them completely, but they do look better, and hopefully won’t get worse. If the lines are deep, you’d need additional treatments to get rid of them completely. I’m happy with the improvement botox gives me - I don’t want the Amanda Holden look, if you know what
I mean!

I'm going for Botox on Friday. I'm excited and nervous. It's my first time going. I don't have obvious lines on my forehead but would much rather treat them before they get deeper. I've been told I should have treatment once a year.

Secretsout · 03/06/2018 22:14

smashhits this isn’t the case at all. After 12 weeks or so your normal muscle action will return so if you leave it another 9 months before you have a treatment your muscles will be working and lines forming during this time. This will negate any of the benefits of having the treatment in the first place.

My eyebrows dropped after the first treatment (I could feel them on my eyelids) but went back for 2 week evaluation and had more Botox to redress the muscle balance. My face is fine now. I look like me but less miserable as the frown lines have been smoothed. I got it in my forehead, 11’s, around eyes and bunny lines. Love it.

Secretsout · 04/06/2018 23:02

miaow did the Dr inject the area between your eyebrows and just above the eyebrows? Or did he just inject your forehead?

princesstiasmum · 05/06/2018 10:24

miaowpc I had the same problem, but i was very bruised too, had to threaten court before i got a refund, long story though, was told by a more expert person it was neligence, mainly due to the severe bruising,
Botox was put in wrong place,
Also make sure the person administering it is a prescriber too, otherwise its illegal to give botox,or[ have a prescriber with them]

itsbritneybiatch · 08/06/2018 13:03

I am here now. I will report back how it goes
