Help!!!! What can i wear under this dress???!

Ive got a really nice mexx dress i found in a charity shop, its white and fits perfectly in terms of length waist and hips, but because i have narrow shoulders and a smallish bust it ever so slightly gapes at the sides (even with a padded bra).
It doesnt affect it when viewed head on, but viewed in profile you can see my bra straps and a tiny amount of the band at the side.

I do have to wear a bra because there are darts and i need to fill it.

Any ideas????

Might need a photo to understand what you mean and picture the shape - would a vest top/boob tube work?

hopethisworks · 01/06/2018 20:37

Hi OP m & s do some lovely cropped lace vests/bralet type things which I have for such outfit. About £8 but the lace is lovely and soft.
Dress sounds lovely by the way hope this nice weather hangs about so you get lots of chance to wear it!

You could have it taken in, it wouldn't cost much

@hopethisworks
I was thinking of some kind of boob tube bralet thing, would it be better to go for a brighter contrasting colour or continue the white?!

Mmmm not sure details like that I generally get wrong but they come in a nude shade? Hope you find something

Really, really easy to just do a little tuck in the side under each armpit, ten minute job by hand. Do you have a friend who can sew at all
? All you need to do is put it on inside out, get someone to pin it in slightly starting at the underarm seam, then a little running stitch. Honestly, easy.

VogueVVague · 01/06/2018 21:04

@SirVixofVixHall
I actually was given a sewing machine so could try doing that. Is that what its called, a "tuck"? (Will youtube). If i fuck it up can i just unpick it?

What you need to do is just take in the side seam for about an inch and a half either side, you probably only need to take it in a little bit, do it by hand as then it is easy to unpick, go over with the machine when you are happy. I will draw a diagram now.

SirVixofVixHall · 01/06/2018 22:45

Ok so
1 put on dress inside out.
2 get someone to pin a new side seam so that is doesn’t gape.

  1. Tack along where the pins are ( Simple running stitch by hand)
4 try on again right way round, if it fits, oversew the seam more securely.

Yes easy to unpick if you have just tacked it loosely ( very basic big running stitch) .

VogueVVague · 01/06/2018 23:05

Thank you so much! I feel like i have to do this option now....and post pics to prove it 😂

Thank you 😊
