Are you a 30 something? Where do you shop?

I am in such a rut! I'm a size 10-12 depending on the shop, early 30's, and I feel like the only thing I look decent in these days is gym wear! I have no idea how to dress myself anymore. I either look fat and frumpy (even though I'm not fat) or I look like I'm trying too hard.

It's even worse now the weather is getting warmer. Why are all the shorts I try on so tight across the thigh area?! Is it just me? They make me look dreadful.

Please help me wise mumsnetters or I'll be spending the summer pretending I've just been to the gym/or have just left the gym as I have nothing else to wear.

Uniqlo
Oliver bonas
And other stories.

That's about it really.... I'm trying to move away from h and m and start to dress like a grown up :)

EyeEyeCaptainCaptain · 31/05/2018 22:03

Part of my problem is that I have some lovely clothes but they're all a size 8 and I've finally admitted to myself that they don't fit. I have a bad tendency of dieting really strictly for about 3 weeks, losing loads of weight, then going to buy myself nice new clothes. I then instantly but all the weight back on so all my nice clothes have basically never been worn. I am now trying to accept that my natural healthy, not starving myself size, is a 10-12.

EyeEye, I'm in the same boat, plus have an 18mo DD.

I wear Uniqlo/LK Bennett/Reiss/J Crew for work.

Just discovered hush (loving their jumpsuits), but I wear a LOT of Cos and Reiss casually.

I'm finding shoes tough. I want to wear Adidas Gazelles, but fear they make my feet look like boats. Gah.

Thank you to the poster about Orson Jeans from Topshop, they look great. Have just ordered some... need a break from the skinny jeans.

I’m early 30s and a size 10. I mainly shop in:
Zara
Mango
H&M for basics
ASOS
Occasional M&S for work basics
L K Bennett shoes

Plus bits from House of Fraser / John Lewis for work.

I would say over half of my recent purchases are Zara and Mango!

VogueVVague · 01/06/2018 07:04

Mango
Ebay
Topshop
And other stories
Kookai
Morgane

Misty9 · 01/06/2018 15:07

I feel like a bit of a heifer reading about all you lithe 30 somethings! Grin I'm 37 and size 14 (more in some shops) though people are generally disbelieving of that being my size... I shop in
White stuff for t shirts and some dresses - they had gone downhill with their quality but seem to have recovered lately
Next for jeans
Seasalt for tops and dresses
Gap for jumpers (our local store has juat closed down though)

I really struggle for consistently decent brands though as I'm tall and not very slim of bottom...

pasturesgreen · 01/06/2018 16:15

Early 30s, size 12.

I shop mainly at Zara, Hobbs & LK Bennett in the sale, Joules, Boden, of bit of M&S.

HildaZelda · 01/06/2018 20:35

I'm 38 and a size 6-8. I mainly shop in Primark, River Island, Zara and H&M.

Ellapaella · 02/06/2018 19:24

39
Hush
TopShop
Boden
H & M
Warehouse
French Connection
FatFace
Primark
These are the shops I've bought from this year. Potentially I'd shop anywhere if I saw something that caught my eye but I don't get the opportunity to go round the shops much. I've bought stuff from Zara and Asos this year that's gone straight back - just can't get to grips with their sizes at all. Zara is annoying because I see other people wearing lovely things from there but nothing I see ever catches my eye or looks right on me.

Ellapaella · 02/06/2018 19:26

Oh and Mango - rediscovered Mango recently and forgot how much I like their stuff. I'd like to be able to buy from anthropologie as they have some beautiful things but it's just a bit too far out of my price range.

DextroDependant · 02/06/2018 19:33

I shop almost exclusively at ASOS. The odd thing from misguided.

LillyLeaf · 02/06/2018 19:42

I'm 35, size 10, ASOS, Monki, Weekday & Other Stories mainly, a little bit of Zara and Warehouse recently.

needyourlovingtouch · 02/06/2018 19:45

I like uniqlo but no real shop nearby

Bubba1234 · 02/06/2018 19:46

Asos is my go to same age as you.
Urban outfitters have nice stuff even though it’s a bit on the pricey side...
There’s actually nice dresses about and they are still nice without makeup or heels jewelry can really make an outfit

GoldenWonderwall · 02/06/2018 19:48

I’m late 30s and I’ve got stuff from Primark. ASOS, H&M and New Look recently. When I needed workwear I liked Closet, White Stuff and M&S. It’s hard at the moment as lots of fashion doesn’t seem particularly nice!

BasinHaircut · 02/06/2018 19:57

I’m a lost cause. 35, also size 10-12 and most of my clothes are from the supermarket lines.

I hate online shopping as it never bloody fits and has to go back, but I should try a bit harder I guess especially if it’s free returns.

Babybearsporij · 02/06/2018 20:13

Mid 30s, size 6-8 top and 8-10 bottom.

Dorothy Perkins & Primark for jeans / jeggings
Tops - New Look, ASOS, Matalan, Sainsburys (although sizes come up big so it's hit & miss), Miss Selfridge, Oasis, George at ASDA
Basics - H&M always
Something a bit special - Zara, the Debenhams brands

CurbsideProphet · 02/06/2018 20:38

I'm early 30s, size 12-14, short, plus 34DD. Quite tricky to find clothes that fit! I got some nice "relaxed chino trousers" from George@Asda recently and have been taking advantage of the Gap 40% off. I like H+M, but I find the sizing small.

I feel quite inspired by this thread, which may turn out badly for my bank balance Grin

bakingdemon · 02/06/2018 21:11

34 and size 10. I like Boden, Hobbs, Great Plains. That's where just about all my stuff comes from!

RoseMartha · 04/06/2018 18:09

Primark
Sainsbury's
Brakeburn
White stuff
Boden
Fat face
Mantaray (Debenhams )
Lands End

Although anything other than the first two I either only buy in the sale or second hand on eBay.

Lotsofsausage · 04/06/2018 21:38

34 y/o
H&M, for basics and jumpers
Cos for jumper dresses in january sales and jewellery
& other stories for dresses/ jumpsuits
Monki for shirts, oversize dresses (some very similar cuts to cos for a fraction of the price although I don't like many of their prints so stick so plain colours)
Asos for dresses, jackets
Some brands at urban outfitters such as Sessun
Uniqlo for knitwear, ankle trousers and shirts (again I don't like many of their patterns)
Topshop for trousers and jeans

I hate shops like river island (too much bling) warehouse etc. Boden, fat face, joules are too frumpy.
