Hi

I am trying to buy a maternity wardrobe and looking for recommendations for good quality brands of specific items you found helpful.

I don't need business wear as my office is very casual.

Thanks from a hot, ill and grumpy pregnant lady!

I had 2 pairs of black maternity leggings from Asda George which were good quality and super comfy. I had their black work trousers too, which were just starting to bobble as I went off on leave. Finally I got a pair of maternity jeans from H&M which I loved. All over the bump. Other than that I most wore loose tops and dresses until the last few weeks when I needed specific maternity tops, but luckily someone gave me several second hand so I didn't have to spend a lot.

Definitely maternity leggings and jeans. I didn't get a lot of stuff. Maternity tops that are also breastfeeding tops are good if you're planning to BF as you can get a lot of wear out of them.

Also underwear wise it was good to invest in some good maternity tights (Mothercare) and some non wired bras. I was pregnant during winter though and I take it you are going to be pregnant during summer, so jeans, tights and leggings might not be your highest priority. I would suggest lots of loose dresses to keep cool.

Definitely the H&M over the bump jeans. Most comfortable item of clothing ever. One black pair and one blue denim. (I have a white pair too).
I wear with vest tops and jacket for work and casual jacket or over size chunky cardi for casual.
Also H&M over bump denim shorts.
Maxi skirt (under bump)
Maxi dress
Some harem pants
T shirt dress

I am 4 months gone and am hoping that lot will see me through.

Primark have some lovely soft non underwired bras that are pretty

I've bought 2 pairs of underbump and one overbump jeans (ASOS, Topshop Joni, New Look Jenna) as I wear jeans for work. One pair of ASOS leggings. One Mamalicious maternity dress for occasions. 6 maternity t shirts from New Look and ASOS. I'll be pregnant til November so the rest can come later!

hammeringinmyhead · 31/05/2018 10:59

Oh yes, Harem pants in a size up from Primark! £6.

Thanks great recommendations. Planning to do some online ordering tonight.

I have lived in my hush harems. They have a fold down top which I pulled up over the bump during pregnancy and am back to folding down now afterwards. I haven’t needed to size up either.
I also had an Isabella Oliver jumpsuit that I loved. Expensive but so comfortable for those days when you don’t want anything touching your bump!

I’m just into maternity clothes too - have been struggling with jeans. Tried Topshop Jamie underbump, Jojo Maman Bébé super skinny overbump, H&M super skinny overbump and Asos Ridley under-bump - only the H&M ones didn’t fall down when trying on and moving about, but they are annoyingly made of 50% polyester so have started to bobble on inner thighs after one wear. The woman in Jojo MB suggested Asos overbump so may try those as well.

Isabella Oliver lovely but pricy, although they have a sale on at the moment- I’ve ordered a couple of dresses and tops. Have also got another couple of IO dresses on eBay.

I also bought 3 knot front dresses from Seraphine for work (I need to be smart) which look lovely and are really comfy - wearing one for first time today. Hoping they wash well too - I think they are doing 20% off dresses just now and again they pop up on eBay regularly too.

Got some good comfy tights from M&S and a colleague also recommended Asda for tights (both online only - like most of it apart from H&M it seems!)

hammeringinmyhead · 31/05/2018 14:50

My ASOS Ridley are great because I can weat a belt with them. I have yet to wear the other jeans as they have been through the wash to stop denim dye transfer.

Agree nothing is in stores. The only place I can find any maternity wear (I'm not in London) is New Look.

Thanks for extra recommendations. Planning an H and M order and will check out the other sites too.

I am only 12 weeks but so bloated and have previous stomach muscle issues so everything getting a bit tight. I am hoping if I buy some basics now then I can jumpers and tights etc as needed when weather turns.
