Hair loss- shampoo recommendations?

Hi all
Since having my DD I’ve had a fair bit of hair loss. It’s not drastic but I notice a huge difference and am doing all I can to fix it. My hairdresser recommended a lovely shampoo (Kevin Murphy) & it’s fab but expensive at £22 a bottle. So just wondering if anyone can recommend a cheaper alternative to help?

Hair loss is normal after birth and there isn't much you can do to fix it. It will stop eventually

No experience of hair loss after pregnancy but Plantur 39 seemed to help my perimenopausal hair loss a bit - it's about £9 a bottle if not on offer.

Happened to me too after birth.

Nioxin system 3 has worked for me. Other shampoos made it worse.

LibertyBlue · 30/05/2018 23:38

Oh but Nioxin is not cheap- but lots of people find it works

@dementedpixie yes it is but it’s been over a year, coming up for 2. My hairdresser says it can be long lasting for some people and I’m seeing some improvement since making changes to diet, shampoo etc but can’t keep paying £22 for shampoo...!

Ah you didn't say the birth was so far in the past, sorry. It should be growing back by now. Have you seen a gp? Maybe you need blood tests to check for anything that could cause hair loss e.g. thyroid

StarkintheSouth · 01/06/2018 14:11

@dementedpixie no worries! I mentioned it to the gp but as I’m otherwise in good health he didn’t think it was a major concern. Like I say it has improved somewhat but I want to keep up the routine I’m in to ensure it doesn’t revert! X

Make sure you're getting enough iron in your diet. If not take a multivitamin.
