I've just had a baby and in need of a make up overhaul! I used to be a Charlotte tilbury, benefit, Clarins, mac girl but now my budget is taken up by aptimil and nappies I'm in need of some cheaper alternatives.

I'm looking for:

Moisturiser
Primer
Foundation
Highlighter
Eye shadow crayons
Mascara

Anybody got any recommendations?

The Rosie for autograph range is very nice and a but cheaper than your usual brands, but not super cheap though. I particularly like the amazing radiance cream and eyeshadow pens. For budget foundation I always head to bourjois (cc cream or serum foundation), sleek for highlighter and soap and glory for mascara (gold one).

Lottapianos · 30/05/2018 21:32

What sort of skin have you got OP?

balkanscot · 30/05/2018 21:43

Re: moisturiser - Vitamin E range from Superdrug. Absolutely amazing stuff and a total bargain.

Love Rimmel wake me up foundation. Find it much nicer than some of the more expensive brands

Thank you- will check these out!

I've get combination skin I would say. Can be very dry around my nose but can be oily on the brow line.

Foundation I would recommend healthy mix by Bourjois as a dupe for a Mac dewy foundation and highlighter I would honestly go for a band called revolution ( in Superdrug) they are super pigmented and very long lasting

Littlejayx · 30/05/2018 21:55

Oh and if you like benefit skin care I switched from them to soap and glory (boots) for clenser, toner and moisturiser

LavenderDoll · 30/05/2018 21:59

Foundation boujouis health mix is great
Rimmel eyeliner and eyebrow pencil
Mac factor fake lashes mascara
I buy the small travel size of benefit hoola and blush from benefit

The best cheap cleanser is Tesco extra virgin organic olive oil. Or any brand of good quality olive oil. Just under 4 quid for a massive bottle that you can decant into smaller bottles to use for cleansing. I've got into oil cleansing recently and love it. I too have similar skin to yours OP. I take a few drops of the oil and rub into my face. Then use a flannel or cotton wool pads washed in hot water to wipe it off. It balances the oily bits and hydrates the dry sections. It also removes all makeup just like an oil cleanser would.

It's also good for the environment as your not throwing away plastic bottles all the time. But is also fantastic for the skin as the oil has no additives or nasties.

There are numerous youtube tutorials you can watch. It makes my skin look really healthy.

Currently the tesco extra virgin organic olive oil is £3.25 for 500ml.

I second what PP said about rimmel wake me up foundation. It gives a beautiful finish, gives great coverage and lasts well

Moisturiser - Superdrug's own ranges - Optimum, .B, Simply Pure, Vitamin E are all brilliant and punch well above their weight. I've ditched Eve Lom/Clarins/Origins/Estee for them and they're regularly on offer. I really rate the Optimum range.
Foundation - No.7
Eye shadow crayons - Nyx
Mascara - No.7 in the purple metallic tube
