Alternative to blister inducing converse

So the ankle high-top converse, I have no problem with and have a few pairs.

But for some reason the normal low cut shoe version that I have gives me blisters on my toes. My toes are very sensitive to blisters but thinking also the canvas material on the shoe is a bit too hard/inflexible? I don't know. All I know is I just can't wear them anymore which is a shame as I love them.

Can anyone recommend similar shoes that are really comfy? I quite like the look of Vans - can anyone vouch for their comfiness?

Placemarking as I'm also interested. I think I have wide feet because Converse pinch my toes so badly and after I've had them 6 months or so they start to split around the toe area where the rubber is. Sad because I love how they look with jeans.

I've had Vans and Superga and it happens with those as well, but not as badly. I used to get New Look wide fit pumps but they aren't as nice as proper branded ones.

Vans old skool are insanely comfortable, I have never got on with Converse as I have the same problems with them as you

misscph1973 · 30/05/2018 13:03

I love Converse, but they are just not very well made! Try Rocket Dog Jazzin.

SexyManatee · 30/05/2018 13:06

Toms?

MsHomeSlice · 30/05/2018 13:07

rocket dogs are wider in the toe area...our local Original Factory Shop has loads in on promo.

also they are better in the sole, not so skinny and flat, so comfier on the whole.

Having said that, I put sports insoles into my converses and that really helps, but I do have narrow and slim feet so there is generally plenty of room in them. Have gone a half size up though in some cases to account for the insole.

MsHomeSlice · 30/05/2018 13:08

jazzin! ....that's them, I knew they had a proper name!

Mountainsoutofmolehills · 30/05/2018 13:09

Tae Kwando shoes :) Converse are the worst for blisters....

thatsscottishtender · 30/05/2018 13:12

Lacoste do low cut's. Much nicer and actually made to be comfortable

Bugjune · 30/05/2018 13:31

Bensimons are the only ones that don't rub my toes at all. Comfortable from the very first time you slip them on.

cakedup · 30/05/2018 13:35

Thanks for suggestions so far, will consider them all!

I've seen the Rocket Dog ones and thought they looked more comfortable, however when I got up close to them, they seemed a bit odd shaped...like so big at the front they looked a bit clown-y? I will have another look though.

I do really like Vans!

Converse gave my little toes blisters. I'm fine in rocket dogs or vans. Vans are my favourite.

pandorawithtreaclecolouredhair · 30/05/2018 16:09

I can only wear Converse with trainer socks ( invisible things).
Can't be seen above the Converse, I mean.
They are not completely invisible.

FoofFighter · 30/05/2018 16:15

I'm fine in Cons but Superga really blister and squeeze my little toes which is a shame as I have a blue leopard print pair that I adore!
going to try out rocketdogs off the back of this thread as while converse don't hurt me at all I'm finding the quality not as good in recent years. My year old pair are almost through to the balls of my feet, whereas I had a beloved pair in 2005 that only gave up the ghost in 2012.

MinisWin · 30/05/2018 16:37

Vans are ridiculously comfortable

WilburIsSomePig · 30/05/2018 16:40

Converse are a bitch until they're broken in. I have a leather pair which are JUST getting to the stage where I can wear them for a few hours without making me want to cry. When they're right they're like slippers though.

MsHomeSlice · 30/05/2018 16:43

the jazzin rocket dogs DO look a little odd, clownish, toddler shoe-ish but I think that's mainly because of the crescent of white, and once they are on it seems to not be so obvious. As they are so much more comfortable than the converses I forgive them :o

I think it looks worse on the solid colour ones, I have the red rainbow stripe and some black ones and I do wear the red ones loads more. Although that could be cos dd borrowed stole the black ones and I have not seen them for months.

PatMustardsMoustache · 30/05/2018 17:23

Toms here, all the way. Go for the Avalons. They’re like walking on air. They do take maybe a day to give, but after that it’s all good.

pigpoglet · 30/05/2018 18:02

These type are way more comfy , I can't wear the normal ones but these are padded all around so don't rub . I actually find they last ages and I've washed mine loads !

thatsmyjoomper · 30/05/2018 18:20

Rocket Dogs are on groupon at the moment for £19.99 😬

LoveInTokyo · 30/05/2018 18:23

I love Superga. Never had a blister and I wear them without socks.

Bejazzled · 30/05/2018 20:27

I bought pewter silver Adidas low tops with a white sole in leather. Very very comfortable.

cakedup · 30/05/2018 22:08

Vans are ridiculously comfortable that is music to my ears feet MinisWin

WilburIsSomePig I've had that with the hi tops but the low cut pair won't be broken (my toes on the other hand).

Never considered Toms before but they do look good actually. Don't like the lace ups so much but like the slip ons.

pigpoglet I've never noticed this type of converse before. Not as nice as the usual type but I can see straight away that they'd be softer on the feet.

Nice find thatsmyjoomper unfortunately I don't iike any of the ones offered on Groupon although Rocket Dog have got a great sale on at the minute anyway.

Do you get blisters ever though LoveInTokyo?

I do like Adidas Bejazzled (Gazelles) but unfortunately they are leather and I am non leather wearing vegan!

Bugjune ooh I've never come across Bugjune shoes. What are the slip ons like? I've got quite wide feet.

Toms are crap for wide feet...and uncomfortable and smelly really quickly!

Vans and Superga are both comfortable for me (and converse are the devil)

cakedup · 30/05/2018 22:42

I think Vans are winning overall. Although I've just been on the Schuh website and someone has complained about blisters in the reviews!

I never thought this day would come. I used to wear high bloody heels on bare feet every day to work (in my 20s). Can't even wear heels on a night out now (in my 40s).
