If I am a Matalan 10 top and bottom,
H&M 12
Next 10 top 8/10 bottom
M&S 8 in t-shirt and vest tops
What Zara size would I be please I can not find the size guide and the calculator is saying XL which can't be right. I am 5ft 3 and weight 9st 7lbs, thank you to anyone who can answer.

Zara sizing is ridiculous. Utterly inconsistent. I'd always advise trying on or ordering a few sizes if possible.

Melstarrynight · 28/05/2018 20:40

In Zara it's usually size 10= medium, size 12= large etc. But yes, try loads on.

peachypetite · 28/05/2018 20:42

I'm a size 10-12 with a big bust and have to get a large.

Cailindeas35 · 28/05/2018 20:55

I'm the same weight and height as you. I'm a small. The medium are too baggy.

Bugjune · 28/05/2018 20:57

I'd try medium first.

Cailindeas35 · 28/05/2018 20:57

Just add there online size thing always says a medium but I've always had to return for a small

llangennith · 28/05/2018 21:11

DD is a tall size 10/12 but has always had to but XL from Zara. Their sizing is nuts.

GirlInTheDirtyShirt · 28/05/2018 21:17

Unless Zara sizing differs in the UK versus here (Spain), you’re probably a 14/42/L-XL. Their sizes are “truer” than a lot of Northern European brands (ie no vanity sizing), in my experience. I’m 5ft7 and a size 8/10 in H&M and I’m an M in Zara.

Ellapaella · 28/05/2018 21:18

I'm 5'7 and weigh 9 stone 6. I'm a size 10 in pretty much every store. But I bought two tops from Zara online recently (never bought from there before) in a medium which I thought was a fairly safe bet. Oh my goodness they were so small! Minuscule! In fact my 7 year old ds put them on just to show how tiny they were and they only just fit him! It actually made me really cross and I won't be ordering from them again. Don't even get me started on the ridiculous returns process.

sherazade · 28/05/2018 22:15

I'm a size 8 and petite - 5 foot and the xs is often too big

unbalancedBella · 29/05/2018 08:09

I think I'm a similar size to you, OP. I find M in Zara is usually the best fit for me. Sometimes a small depending on cut. Rarely a large.

Spottyyellowdress · 29/05/2018 08:13

What are your bust/waist/hip measurements? Weight can be irrelevant sometimes when it comes to size!

Spottyyellowdress · 29/05/2018 08:15

Is this useful?

Ahhh Zara sizing.... there is zero logic to it whatsoever. I have fitted nicely into some size 10 jeans. Some size 12 i cant even get over my knees so would need at least a 14. Would always recommend trying on xx

OhKnow70 · 29/05/2018 08:44

Thanks everyone will have look to see if there is a store at the Birmingham Bull ring as there isn't one at my local shopping centre. Think it will probably be better to brave a trip than order online as I want several items.

CorianderDestroysFamilies · 29/05/2018 09:26

I’m 5’9, a small 10 and I’m a L in Zara. I just focus on fit rather than the size and try not to dwell on it too much.

unbalancedBella · 30/05/2018 06:55

if there is a store at the Birmingham Bull ring

There is indeed a Zara in Birmingham (near the Bull statue) as my depleted bank balance can attest!

EmmaC78 · 30/05/2018 06:59

Zara sizing is indeed crazy. I am a size 10 normally and am a Large in Zara.

KnobJockey · 30/05/2018 07:08

If you link to what the items are, I may be able to tell you whether they generally run up small or not. I worked there for a lot of years, and there's certain things that run up small while others are cut better.

For the record, I find the returns easy- I requested one yesterday, printed a label and it's being picked up by courier today free of charge 🤷

RedDwarves · 30/05/2018 07:15

I find Zara sizing ridiculous. I'm typically a size 6 and 5'7", but have only ever found one blazer there which fits me correctly (that I have tried on). Everything else I've tried on has been ill fitting.

KnobJockey · 30/05/2018 07:20

For general size comparison, I find that the younger the market it caters for, the smaller the sizes. M&s, next Matalan all run up large, Dorothy Perkins in the middle, Topshop, boohoo etc all smaller. H&m make it up as they go along.

Your sizing suggests that you are quite slim hipped which works well with Zara. As a very broad rule, XS=6, S=8, M=10, L=12, XL=14. You will probably get away with a 10 in bottoms, S in loose cut tops (lots more are meant to be oversized than you realise), M in fitted. I would go for M in jacket because the sleeves aren't always the most generous. Anything in the TRF section runs up smaller, sometimes massively so, as that's the range aimed at a younger market, basic sizes up Large, woman is generally true to size. Shoe sizes are narrow.

And the Birmingham bull ring store is meant to be good 😊 if there are things that you like on the site, take down there numbers as stuff gets rotated a lot quicker in the stores so there's a good chance it will be in the stockroom. New styles arrive twice a week, so it's forever changing, although they will be winding down on summer stock now ready for winter to start being delivered in June. Mad, I know.

eurochick · 30/05/2018 08:20

I'd try medium.

IJustLostTheGame · 30/05/2018 09:12

The sizing is nuts.
I'm 5'7 and a size 8. I've had size M skirts that I can't pull up past my hips and size xs dresses that are far too big.
