New York in August for 4 days. What should I take?

Help please! I'm off on a city break to New York in August, lots of sightseeing, at least one big night out. Any advice on what clothes to take, I'm feeling clueless! I know I need good comfortable footwear but other than that I'm stumped. I'm a size 14-16, short and busy. Thank you!

It's very laid back there - they don't dress up. It will be very hot and humid so bear this in mind.

I would wear loose fitting midi sun dresses. Humidity will be unpleasant you don't want tight clothing.

we went in August last year. It was pretty hot (about 27 degrees I think) but I would also try and have a card/light jacket with you as a lot of shops/bars/restaurants are air conditioned to an insane degree.
