A dress for an American wedding

I'm going to a wedding in July in New York so it will be hot and humid.

I am 5ft 6", a size 16 and suit (I think) deep jewel colours. Not really a summer person.

I hate my legs and arms so would rather they were covered up. I'm pretty fat and lumpy and I'm already dreading it a bit.

Happy to have my shoulders out though.

Has anyone seen any dresses that might fit the bill? DH wants me to match his pale blue suit but that's waaayyy down my list of priorities.

Budget up to £150 but would prefer to stay under £100.

Ime American weddings are a bit dressier so a full length dress could be an option and you needn't dismiss those that seem a bit bridesmaidy for a UK wedding. Unless it's new York hipsters and then I'm totally out of my comfort zone.

I think it'll be hard to cover arms and legs in that heat, so I'd probably do a maxi and then something like a light shawl if you really feel the need to cover your arms. (A spray tan helps my arms massively and you've still got some time tomtone them up a little if you want. There's loads of videos on YouTube.)

Interesting about being dressier. I have been dismissing a few dresses because they look a bit bridesmaidy.

The wedding is unlikely to be New York hipster but I am definitely one of the fattest
