Dark patches on face

Has anyone got a cure for dark spots around the forehead and eyes? Even wearing SPF every day (and a hat where possible) my melasma is really bad this year. I use the nip and fab glycolic pads at night... My face is looking so patchy Confused

Vitamin c serum helps mine - I just get it from Amazon!

Ultrasun Anti Pigmentation Face Cream

Mines the same. My GP says its vitoligo in my case. I'm just embracing the SPF50 and foundation.

RussianBluee · 27/05/2018 12:21

Doesnt the glycolic though make you more prone to pigmentation from the sun? I dont use it in the summer or if sunny weather is on the forecast. Also do you reapply the sun screen every 2 hours and apply a generous amount? If you sweat you need to reapply.

Could they be age or liver spots or hormonal if pregnant orgoing through the menopause? Maybe wear bigger sunglasses?

ApplesTheHare · 27/05/2018 20:54

RussianBluee yes apparently it's hormonal. It began a few years ago after I was pregnant with DD. And thanks about the glycolic, I was wondering if that was making it any worse. I have HUGE sunglasses and hat, and reapply suncream every hour if I'm outside, though I try to avoid going out when the sun is hottest.

Thanks MOONSpellsTomCullenLawsYes and ProjectGainsborough I'll try both!

I get mine lasered off at the loacal beauty parlour, it costs £80 for a half face. Worth every penny.

EleanorLavish · 27/05/2018 21:05

Oooo, what kind of mastering is that madcat? I’ve a large patch on my forehead, doesn’t really bother me but wouldn’t mind getting rid of it!

bionicnemonic · 27/05/2018 21:07

Madcatlady, do you know which sort of laser they use? I’ve tried to find somewhere here after I had it done years ago but no one seems to know! Thank you

ApplesTheHare · 27/05/2018 21:15

madcatladyforever this sounds like just what I need! What do I need to ask for?

I'm not sure what it's called, it was advertised at the local beautician clinic, they have special training but are not medically trained. I think they said it was YAG laser. I had a big brown spot under my eye that was very noticeable as I'm very white. They used the laser on it's lowest setting and it faded to nothing over about 4 weeks and hasn't returned. It's really good.

ApplesTheHare · 27/05/2018 21:47

Thank you, I've just found a yag laser place offering it for melasma near me so I'm going to give it a go. Great to hear they sorted yours out! I have fairly dark skin anyway but two patches in particular are really bad and one is starting to make it look like I have a black eye. Not great at work when people are asking you how your weekend was while looking fairly concerned ...
