How to stop nail polish chipping?! Please help!

I don't want to have gel or acrylic for various reasons but would like to not have my colour chip so quickly.... I usually have a small chip by the next day after I've done my nails, and then chipped all across the top within 2 days maximum.

I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, I use base and top coat over good quality colour polish.I've tried doing a few thin coats, or 1 or 2 thicker coats, Ive tried air drying, cold water, drying drops.. but, it still happens every single time..

Please help! Any advice very gratefully received on products or technique....

Do you soak your hands pre manicure? If yes I don't think you should. Also do you wrap the polish just under the nail too. It helps seal it and helps to stop chips

If your job involves typing then you're out of luck.

The only way I found was to have my nails really short and I might get 2 to 3 days max.

You need to seal the tip of the nail too - once you have done your first coat of colour, do a very fine coat across the tip before doing your second coat. Do the same with your top coat, then you seal the whole thing. Best top coat is sally hansen instant dry (I think) - the red bottle

Should last AT LEAST 3 days...I usually get 5 from an Essie or OPI manicure. And last week got 7 days!

I always recommend seche vite. It bonds all the layers of polish to the nail and makes it dry very fast. OPI Nail envy will help to strenghthen nails too. I apply 2 coats nail envy, 2 coats polish and 1 coat seche vite.

I swear by it and my cheapo primark nail polish lasts at least a week without chips. People never believe that my nails are real and not fake

Buy it from amazon or ebay though not boots because it will cost twice as much..

I would also reccomend seche vite or the Opi top coat. I would also keep them in the fridge. I don't know why but when they're cold, they seem to last a little longer!

Yes, I type alot! But I don't soak my hands before polish.

I will try the advice to put a layer across the end, and I'm off to Amazon now to make some more purchases.... That I will then keep in the fridge!
