Someone tell me about spray tans?

I’m getting married in three weeks and would like to have an even, glowy tan. I tan really well but as I’m pregnant I have been a bit more cautious and overheat much easier so I’m not likely to build up sufficient natural tan in that time. I’ve also got various different tan lines (some from almost 6 months ago!) which could do with being evened out a bit.

I’m very low maintenance and have never had a spray tan before. I assume this is the best way to get a streak free, all over tan?! I have no idea!! How long before an event do you get one? How do I avoid looking orange?

Honestly? I got a spray tan for my wedding and it's my biggest regret.
A spray tan can be fabulous (and it was), but I just prefer a more natural bridal look.

I think the main problem with mine was the photography; dh and our DC are pale skinned, which really made my tan stand out. We also have closeup photos of our hands/rings and the tan is really really artificial looking. The photographer actually had to switch some to black and white, that's how unhappy I was (and trust me, I was so easy going otherwise).

I'd recommend you do a trial at least. Go for a light shade. You'll probably love it, but just bear what I've said above in mind!

Best of luck with everything!

DP tans like I do but is doing much more cycling and outdoorsy stuff then I can manage currently so he’s a much better colour than me! I don’t want to be the pale wife!

I'm using a moisturiser with tan in it at the moment and it's really lovely, not streaky at all. I'm using garnier but there's Johnsons, Dove etc too.

Maybe try one of those over the next few days? Then, leave it fade and get the spray tan next weekend, and see which you prefer?

Do you know anyone who could recommend a spray tanner? A good one obviously makes all the difference, will talk to you about what depth of colour you want beforehand and ensure that it's an even finish with no streaks. With only 3 weeks to go you need to find somewhere now and have a trial run so there are no shocks for the day.

I had a spray tan before being a bridesmaid and I looked ridiculous. The bride was pissed off with me as every photo with me in had to be black and white as my colour was unreal.
Don't do it. I use the dove lotion now and it gives a nice sun kissed look

The weakest strength I’ve seen is 6%. They go up to 14%, anything over that is more for body builders.

It won’t even out tan lines. It’s not really designed tothough.

You should ask for a patch test 48 hrs before as pregnancy makes you more sensitive.

If you do it have a practice tan.

Don’t wear make up or any products containing an spf on your wedding day, they’ll refelect on the photographers flash and your face will look paler than your body.

Vani-t tan and LA Tan are both great tans.
