Perfume that smells of tomato plants

I need a new summer perfume - something fresh, but not sweet or detergenty, that lasts all day, ideally. I like citrusy scents but they seem to vanish on me after an hour. I seem to remember a scent that was like the green bit on the tops of tomatoes (the bit that attaches fruit to plant rather than the tomato itself) - have I imagined it? Perfume people can you think of it or recommend?

Jo malone do a tomato candle so may do a perfume

Rainboho · 26/05/2018 08:35

There was a Nina Ricci one like this back in the late 90s/early 00s. It was a green twisted bottle. I loved it. Let me see if I can find it.

Rainboho · 26/05/2018 08:38

Les Belles de Ricci is the one - definitely smells of tomato leaves, but sadly not easily available now. Perhaps a perfume website would suggest similar?

BarbaraWarpecker · 26/05/2018 08:40

Not sure about tomato smell but if you want something really really fresh and green smelling , like cut grass, then Sisley Eau de Campagne is utterly beautiful ( when someone else is paying...).

greatbiggiraffe · 26/05/2018 08:43

I loved les Belles de Ricci but not seen it in years! One of the Liz Earle perfumes smells similar think it was Botanical number 20.

WishTheGroundWouldSwallowMeUp · 26/05/2018 08:52

hahahaaa you wouldn't be asking for a tomatoes plant smell, if you ever worked with them or know people who did/do

They stink.

But if you really want to smell like that buy some plants put them in a greenhouse, then prune them/rub on them everyday in the the morning. the smells sticks like glue, you could walk about smelling fresh all day then. not sure other people will adore your new sent though.Grin

Omg there are lots ...you have good taste - it’s a great note. My favourites are ....

Sisley Eau de champagne is a classic but expensive

Shay and Blue Dandelion Fig is much cheaper (despite the name, it smells of tomato leaves)

Miller Harris cassis en Feuille another classic tomato leaf perfume

Bella Freud Ginsberg is god (also £££)

Brocard (only available from Bloom perfumery- online) does a pure tomato leaf cologne and it’s cheap as chips. They’re an excellent Russian house

Illuminum (Kate M chose one of theirs for her wedding day) did a Perfume called tomato leaf. I’ve not smelled it and they’ve gone bust now (not even Kate could save them) but there stock often appears on eBay very cheap.

Hope that’s helpful- you’re welcome Smile

Yes, Les Belles De Ricci with the green bottle had tomato leaf as a fragrance note..got loads of compliments on that one..not to be had now though, sadly.

TheGirlOnTheLanding · 26/05/2018 09:17

@Rainboho and @SomeAreMoreEqualThanOthers it must have been the Nina Ricci one - shame it's no longer around. Thanks @greatbiggiraffe @LibertyBlue @BarbaraWarpecker for recommending other options - the Miller Harris and Liz Earle sound like good places to start (don't think I can stretch to the Sisley one!)

Korres do a range called 'santorini' vine' that I'm obsessed with at the moment, I think it smells like freshly watered tomato plants. It's so summery.

LibertyBlue · 26/05/2018 09:31

Liz Earle 20 is a rose Perfume, it’s not green or tomato leafy. I think the previous poster is thinking of No.1 which is green, but not tomato leaf.

The Brocard tomato leaves and blackcurrant is only £15 for 100ml- I’d be tempted to blind buy. Also I forgot one which is cheap and widely available- Roger and Gallet cassis Frénésie (find it in M&S).

Yes I am a Perfume geek 🤓

LibertyBlue · 26/05/2018 09:33

ofthread alas Demeter Perfumes (aka fragrance library) has been withdrawn from the U.K. market. Boots were selling them off a few months ago, so there might be some available on eBay still

Agent13 · 26/05/2018 09:35

Gosh I wore les belles des ricci for years through late teens/early 20s, never ever thought it smelled of tomato plants though ConfusedGrin
Still got a bit in the bottom of a bottle somewhere!

greatbiggiraffe · 26/05/2018 09:55

The Liz Earle Botanical no. 20 smells very similar to Les Belles De Ricci. The notes are totally different but just got it out and had a spray and took me back to being a 15 year old

SomeAreMoreEqualThanOthers · 26/05/2018 10:06

I loved the Les Belles, but I hate the Liz Earle.

greatbiggiraffe · 26/05/2018 10:13

Actually as its settling it's reminding me less of les belles and giving me a slight headache so ignore my suggestion!

teta · 26/05/2018 10:27

Also ‘In love again’ by Yves saint laurent. It has citrus, black currant and tomato leaf and used to be one of my favourite perfumes until I became anosmic to black currant.

Haffiana · 26/05/2018 11:29

Sisley Eau de Campagne is a tomato leaf scent, rather than a perfume with tomato leaf notes.

Ginpuddles · 26/05/2018 11:38

Try Annick Goutal Ninfeo Mio, OP.

I wear it and think it smells of tomato leaves (notes of fig and citrus too).

MrsRoyCropper · 26/05/2018 18:25

Verbena by l’occitane has that almost lemon citrus very crisp delicious fragrance, subtle, well balanced and summery.

misiabella · 26/05/2018 22:40

Donna Karan DKNY Women. It has got very strong tomato leaf note, which makes it crisp, cold and unusual.

CecilyNeville · 26/05/2018 22:46

Aedes de Venustas signature - smells gorgeous. I had a small decant a couple of summers ago, but can't seem to find another.

teta · 26/05/2018 23:10

Ooh yes. How did I forget about Aedes De Venustas - I adore this. I have a 10 ml decant from Gerald’s Decants off Crystal Flacon. His 10 ml bottles are really good quality and he’s reliable.

ichifanny · 26/05/2018 23:40

DKNY women was meant to smell of tomato plant
